Do you watch the film/drama serial from the start to the end?

Okay, for movies, I guess most of us will just stay put throughout the whole movie.
But recent years, there are a number of films that are more than 1 part. For example, the famous Lord of the Ring, Harry Potter etc.
And also, drama serial has many episodes as well. Some of the story plot are linked back to back whereas some of them have individual stories and you can just skip one or two episode but still you won't need the episodes before that to continue watching.
For me, it really depends. If I don't like it, of course I will just stopped it. But if I like it, I will wait patiently for it. But I have a bad habit of not completing the film/drama serial if I really like it. Because if I watch the last episode of it, it would mean the end of the drama and thus, I find it hard to accept that and will just resist watching the ending.
So my question, do you always watch the film/drama serial from the beginning to the end? Do you also have any bad habit such like not wanting to watch the last episode?

I definitely watch all of it. Like, you, if I just don't dig it, I'll stop watching, but if I'm into it, I need to watch every episode.
You talk mostly about drama here, but sitcoms and comedies, more and more these days, are becoming a bit more serialized as well. Like "Arrested Development," for instance, really did a great job of calling back jokes from previous episodes or setting things up now for payoffs down the road. So if you missed one or two episodes here or there, you wouldn't understand the jokes later on.
I wouldn't be able to choose to not watch the last episode. I understand what you mean, how that would be admitting it was over. However, if I just stopped watching, it'd still be just as over, but I wouldn't have the satisfaction of the conclusion. There are so many amazing series finales that I would have missed, like "Angel," "Mary Tyler Moore," "Bob Newhart," etc. In fact, when I was a kid, I was punished and so was not able to watch the "Married... With Children" finale, and to this day, I feel very upset that I don't know how it all ended.

Hi ^5 to you! Yes, time is precious and it's really important to rather stop watching than to put myself through hours where I am kinda like wasting my time away.
I haven't really watch much of those shows that you mentioned. If I chanced upon them, I shall give it a try.
Yes, it's actually contradicting... Because not wanting to go through the ending also gives me no conclusion if there was a happy ending at the end of the show. But most of the show which I skipped on the ending, it's usually because I already owned a set of them and can view them anything. But I just keep putting it on hold so I can remember them. I guess maybe it's time for me to go through the ending so I can finally give the character a happy ending.

Yeah, there is actually such a service around my country but the tv shows they have in their databases are limited. Thus, I don't subscribe to that.
Oh! I got your meaning. I still remembered there was this tv show (it's something similar to a battle between good and evil) where I almost lost hope thinking that the old characters might just be killed off without any conclusion, like a loose end. And luckily they were back in full force for a final battle to wrap things up.

That would be neat. One day, you could just have a series finale night. Just watch, like, five series finales back to back. :)
The one thing I'd mention is that sometimes a finale doesn't actually give a happy ending. In the case of "Angel," for instance, you can pretty much assume everyone's going to die. However, it's satisfying (in my opinion, it's the best finale ever) because our heroes go down fighting, which perfectly sums up the entire series. So just be warned: You may not always get that happy ending, but you should get a satisfying ending.

hi there warvial,
Well usually i do finish it from start to end. But this is only because I only watch movies that im interested on. I could automatically see if i would like the movie or not and when i dont i automatically stop watching it. As for the tv show series. its really hard to keep track of it especially when they air it on times that you're usually not at home. so what i do during those times is that if i really like that show that much i buy a complete season of that show good thing there ar stuffs like that now a days. But most of the time if it was just a tv show i would just continue watching it though i already miss some of the episodes.

hi twowizdom, it's really good that you are able to spot if you will like the movie or not. Because for me, I will have the tendency of being mislead by the movie trailer and ended up wasting my time on the movie. And yes, it's pretty hard to follow through the tv shows since not everyone has the same working hours. I wonder why there they can't have those functions for us to re-watch it if we missed out on it. And I guess that's also why those producers tried not to have linkage (other that the cast and background) in storyline for those tv shows.

i totally agree with you! yeah thats also the thing about the trailers..haha.. thats why sometimes i let the others watch the movie first before me so that i could just ask them if it was worth watching or not..haha

.....Hi there warvial, I love movies, I go to the movies less now than I used to.
But when I would attend the movies I would watch once for entertainment and once for analysis. Because I found that there was always something that I missed watching the movie the first time. I did this for my pleasure so I would go by myself. At home when I watch movies, series I have a hard time with as I have a short attention span and I get bored, I am creative and we are strange people "o). But when I watch movies, I have a tendency to watch part of the movie then turn somewhere else start to watch that and maybe not get back to see the end of the movie. I did that several times with Scent of a Woman with Al Pacino. This year I finally watched the movie all the way through, it was a very good movie I thought. But that is how I watch movies. The Bourne adventure movie is another one that I have yet to watch all the way through. Just a strange bird I am, but it's my style. "o) So glad someone invented movie making. Take good care.

Hi artistry, yes, rewatching the movie is something good if we really like the movie because we are able to fully apprehend the movie and also look at things we might have missed out originally. I guess the only factor that we lacked of is the time and thus, many of us have had to catch the movie at home during our once in a blue moon free time and so it's pretty hard to do reviews(I have this habit of writing reviews in my blog).
Oh, you have got a habit of your own like me. Well, in any ways, as long as we enjoyed the film/movie/tv shows, it really does not matter much how we watch it, don't you agree?
Thanks for sharing!

hi warvial
Yes, when I watch a film or it might be a romance drama, I would watch it from the first time until the movie is end...
I think we can enjoy the movie if we wath it till the end so we know how it first and how it ends.

Hi danielthamrin, it is absolutely right. Knowing the complete story will gives us a complete picture of the drama.
For me, there are times when I will still have the big ? at the end of the show because I am so focused on the main characters that I have to re-watch a few times to realize what I have missed out on the co-characters part.

As you mentioned, i watch the films from the beginning to end. But regarding the drama/serieals i hate to watch them. It is boring. Because they drag a small incident for days in their serials in our cuontrys local tv channels. Not only that, they put lot of adds.In a half an hour serial there will be adds consuming about 15 minutes. If your watching a tv serial means your wasting time without knowing the end. Some days you may miss the event.

Yes, I do like to watch drama movies. But as for thrilogy movies, or films that have more than two or three following parts, I have to admit that it bores me a little bit! last week I wanted to watch a movie that has three following parts, I really do like this movie and a some time ago I watched all three parts. But as to up-to-date information, I found out that I do not really have a time to watch all three parts, so I stopped somewhere in the middle of the second movie from it's thrilogy. I really do not want to call it a bad habit, it is more like a time consuming process, and today I found out that I do not have so much leisure time to dedicate to my favorite films!

Hi SheyBee, yes, it's pretty hard to find time for movies especially when you have more and more commitments. Work, family... etc And if you are not really a fan of indoor activities, having time for movies and tv shows are one of the least priority. I have friends whom rather spend time on outdoor activities than spending hours watching movies. And somehow, I agree with what they said. Which is why nowdays, I will try to identify the movie story plot because spending time to watch it.

hi zedrick_11, I agree. The last time I watch this movie called Devil's Reject, it was really a movie which I dislike. From the beginning to the end, I sat there going through the "why am I still sitting here watching this movie". Thus, movie reviews (especially from friends than critics) are good information for us to determine if we should watch the movie.

Just like you, I also watched and finished a certain sequels or prequels of a movie when I do love it. I stopped watching Harry Potter since I really don't like this franchise. But when I like the movies I tend to collect it. The Godfather, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Batman, are only few of my favorite series film.

Hi kenites, same here. I actually stopped Harry Potter after the 3rd or 4th movie because I was expecting something more light-hearted. I have collected LOTR but not the special editions because of the cost. And recently, they have said that their will be the blu-ray version of LOTR...
Hi joannaleed, great to see another prequel/sequel fans. And yes, time is really precious and choosing the right movie to watch/follow is important...
