Why do female motor bike riders get such a hard time from male counterparts?

Hi all... I am female and ride a Harley Davidson. Most riders at some point have accidentally dropped their bike or had an accident, when men do this it is no big deal, everyone wants to discuss it with them. But when a female does it all she receives is derogatory comments. Yes I have dropped my bike, because I didnt pay attention to the attention that my footing was on uneven ground....fair enough...but I hate the fact that I have had several accidents that were the fault of the car drivers not mine... the accidents were bad enough, ... I can ride just as well as the men and they know this, I have also ridden across the country... so why do men have to carry on as if any accident must be my fault purely because I am a female??

is it true people will blame the woman biker when an accident occurs? I don't think so, but if that's true, usually indeed his wrong Usually the woman biker less alert than the rider man. You know, right, in riding a motorcycle we should always be alert and responsive

I agree, always alert and responsive, if you aren't you definitely shouldn't be on a bike!! So I dont agree with the comment that women are less alert than men. If anything females may be more cautious than men, too many males are over confident and take too many risks.

oh thanks for your comments by the way. I don't want to turn this into a "who is better, male or female" conversation.... I think it is more, as other people have said, a male ego thing lol Being a very independent female male chauvinism just annoys me sometimes

hi mam, nice to know that you have a harley. my dream bike.. here in our country, the problem like yours is always at the top of debates when it comes to driving. first, let me say that i am a man and i don't have anything against women driving anything they want. the first things that me and my friends, even my father noticed when women are driving, 2 things: 1 is they are too much scared 2. is too much want to prove something ending up in bad things. i also have some family members that are women and they drive. the first things that we discussed was do not go head to head with any man or woman alike driving and wanting to prove that your a woman and you can drive. just think of driving nothing else. you don't have to prove anything, we are all the same. sorry for maybe some bad grammars or anything, kinda sleepy while doing this. and maybe for me, a harley is a little bit heavy for a woman except if your a big woman. it's not that only masculine men have the right to ride a harley, but its because for your own safety. as you said you have been in some accidents. maybe if you rode something a little bit smaller than a harley, that wouldn't happen. a lot of cases happens here in our country that a person, men or women, riding something that is too much for them ending up in the hospital or worse. like me, just came oout from the hospital a few weeks ago from an motorcycle accident. my bike slided while i was braking for a woman crossing the street with no regards for vehicles coming her way. so when i used the back brake, i skid then i used the front brake i flew away. i am a thin man,... i only weight about 110 pounds and my bike is a 250cc imitation of harley davidson. a lot of my friend said to me, use a smaller one, i said, no i want this big bike. i can't control it because it was too heavy for me. don't know, maybe you'll get the idea of what i want to say :D thanks for reading.

thanks for your comments, yes I have observed that some women are a bit nervous out there, I can assure you that Im not. I have to admit that I have had quite a few men compliment me on the way that I ride as well, it is mainly friends that know I can ride that put me down, but I think its just their egos because they know I do ride as well as they do. As for the weight of the bike, all Harleys are different, I can lift a Street Bob but I cant lift a Dyna, and they weigh the same!! The difference is in where the weight is balanced on the bike, some have it all in the top end others have it in the lower end. I an currently riding a customised 883 Sportster, they weight is great... unless it is stationary and tilts to far over...in that case it is even to heavy for some men to hold up, best to let it go down and then pick it back up. I am not a big woman lol, quite petite but I do have some strength. I used to ride a 250 lookalike that was quite light, I find the heavier bike safer and easier to ride, it holds the road better in the wind. Sorry to hear about your accident, hope you and your bike recover well.

I dont think so. Its so normal to reason out just to get an argument who is right or wrong. Even if the one is at fault, the usual reaction is that he is the victim always. That's how it play in the streets.
