Can something be proven good? Can something be proven evil? Are good and evil just opinions?

It is definitely opinion, since the definition of good and evil differs from one person to the next. Now there are acts, ideas, and actions that are seen as good or evil due to consensus, but when it comes to an individual things get blurrier. One person thinks eating meat is evil while another happily eats another cheeseburger. Plus there is the aspect that people rarely see themselves as evil. Find the most despicable human being in history according to your beliefs, and odds are that person will have never once considered themselves evil. It is just human nature. Since there is no action, person, or principle I can think of that every last person in the world can agree to being good or evil, I would have to say it's an opinion.

There are a lot with good and evil that can be left up to interpretation. On the flip side, there is a lot of good and evil that is generally considered to be true. It is not a cut and dry situation. There is a consensus for a lot of it. It is just common sense. Killing someone for example is considered to be evil. Helping those in need are considered to be good. Then again there are many other things that go through an area of gray. There are many things in life that are shades of gray. You can think something is good or evil, depending on what your perception of the situation is. There are no right answers or wrong answers in many cases. In the end, its just your common sense that is the only thing that can determine whether something is good or evil.

If something is true then that means it can be proven using science.

Good or evil is a decision determined by each of us. We decide based on consequences returned to us. Make those choices wisely for the proof can be painful.

So is good and evil something that can be proven or is just an opinion?

I think they are both facts of life. They are both extreme opposites with each other. In the absence of good, there should be evil and vice-versa. But anyone of us do have each others point of view of what is good and what is evil.

A fact is something that is true. Something that is true can be proven. Can you prove to me that good and evil are facts? Can I do an experiment that shows that something is good or something is evil?

I think both good and evil are neither facts nor opinions. They are ideas. Ideas can't be proven; they can only be realized or not realized. Given that, my thinking is that good can not exist without evil, and vice versa. I think that we recognize our version of good by our version of evil. We think, for instance, that killing a person is evil. Therefore, to us, saving a person is good. Though they are just ideas, we wouldn't be able to recognize one without the other. Hope this helps. :)

the criteria for good and evil depends upon the society where it take place. they might be opinions based from the norms and standards of a certain society.. we can only prove good and evil through God's Law.. but as long as a standard or norm exist on a certain society we cannot contradict their beliefs. be it good or evil, we'll never know.. Only God can decide on whether something is evil or good.
