With smiles, joys and excitement - I am thrilled and filled with mixed emotions like Filipinos who often receives their balikbayan box that coming from our relatives from abroad. It does not matter whats inside the box is, because most inside the box are imported goods which we don't usually have it here in over the counter store, what matter most is the feeling of hope whenever we open the box. There stuff that we request and new stuff that we even have not tried and yet its all so good especially the chocolates ( I loved chocolates, i even hide it for myself lol).
All I can say is that I'm fortunate. I have two sisters working abroad and they usually send a balikbayan box for our family. Also they send my financial needs and as a result I have finished my college degree which I not having a hard time in studying.
I often hear story from my classmates and friends that they too have a relative in abroad and they also got helped from them. I would say that most relatives are so thoughtful and they will help their relatives in what they can here.
However, working abroad is not so easy. They have to be so independent that they have to look where they can live in. They need also financials to stay on the standard of living in the country where they live and most of the time the loneliness they have to endure. They also depend their relatives here in the Philippines that is why they're sending support so when they go home, they can finally retire, they also expect the development what they invested here. So i guess here and abroad must cooperative and do what is best for our betterment.
That is why most balikbayan boxes are filled not only with the things that would be temporarily used, but also with things beyond materials ones.

Same here too dude, well I have 2 relatives abroad, my uncle and aunt. Just the form or the image of a balikbayan box on your home makes you quiver in excitement. Like wondering if that box has the items you wish or ask on your relatives, wondering if there are lots of chocolates and other goods from outside our country. This also symbolizes that the relatives or OFWs abroad doesnt forget where they all came from, and behind those boxes are the hopes and dreams of the filipinos.
