Today have a very bad encounter at my friends kid birthday party though it did not happen to me.
The party was held at a theme park which was awesome as we are going to have and food.
Before the food serve, the birthday boy went to have fun and when he was going to enter to the play area. A group of people was obstructing at the entrance talking. The boy polity say:" Excuse me." Upon enter to the play area, he say:" I am sorry for interrupting. Thank you." Guess what! A 6 years old boy was being told off by a group of adult in their 30s. "If you Asian can't speak English, get out of here!"
Immediately, another local came along say:" I need to get over". The reply is sweet and darling:" Sure, sweetie, here you go!".
The boy was pretty upset and ask the mummy, I am born here but why we are not welcome?". The mum look and me speechless.....

If you are living somewhere you should try to learn the language. Its rude to refuse to speak someone elses language. But that aside it was rude. Its a little kid. There was no need for the rude comment.

Language is usually not that much of a problem. In California some people just aren't educated enough to talk properly. I remember once when I was working at Mervyn's this one customer came up to me and whispered "good luck, your next customer is disabled". I felt so shocked to hear something so ignorant like that.

People really can be cruel an ignorant. And usually the people that make those comments, are the ones with the problem. They project their inabilities onto other people. But these guys just sound prejudice to me.

I saw at your profile that you are from California. Which part are you in? I am in East bay. Anyways, what you are explaining here seems to be not only discrimination, but also racism. And the family can actually take those people to court for it.
I know though we have a diversity here some Californians have not yet come out of the 18th century. They can't usually say anything to bold adults. But kids often become its victims. I saw this in high school and now I see it at my university. But I feel the people who are being racist here are those who have just come out of trash. You know some cities here still have many trash living together. You cannot expect civilized manner from these people.

Discrimination of human being is punishable under law, as all humans are one and the same under this sun. In your discussion, you have just mentioned about an incident, which normally happens in the public place, I dont see a perfect reason to call it discrimination.

I wonder what country is that? well, discrimination was really rampant on different places and I get pissed off to those who think that just because of being an Asian and not being able to speak English would be a good reason for a person not to be welcomed it's really unfair for the fact that not all Asian don't know how to speak it out! I hate those who think that they're more superior for being able to speak English. Discrimination is a sad reality
