We're used to cabled internet connections right? And the wifi connection is wireless. It makes things easier for the majority since you can work wherever you want (without laying out a very long cable just for your internet connection) as long as your computer is wifi capable or ready.

Wifi is a kind of wireless internet connection. You can use the laptop or cellphone to access internet if you find the wifi spots. Usually the wifi is set password. You may find the free wifi spots from the places like airport. I love China

Hi marycar26 Wi-fi is basically a wireless internet connection best suited for laptop computers in a specific area. Wi-fi provides specific range areas wherein you can surf the internet without the use of any LAN CABLES. Wi-fi here in the philippines basically offered on large industries and private schools/sectors. Malls like SM also offer it to entertain more customers.

I don't really know if wi-fi is an acronym or it's really the term. Wi-fi is used in order for you to connect in the internet without any wires being plugged in to your computer. It's a wireless connection that you can connect in to. Recently we had a d-link router that is used to have wi-fi so it's connected to our phone and to our desktop and the good thing is that using our laptop you can also connect at the same time because the connection is set. If you have a wi-fi zone it means that any computer can directly connect in the internet simply by connecting through a wireless connection.

Wi-Fi stands for Wireless Fidelity. Like everybody says, it's how you connect to the Internet without using any cables. You can connect to the Internet in various ways let's tackle the common ones, you can use the very common Dial-Up connection where you have a phone cord (called rj11 in techy jargon). You use the telephone to connect, when you use dial up, you can't use the telephone. Second very common is LAN connection where you have a cable slightly bigger than the phone cord (called rj45 in techy jargon). The other end is connected to a modem and the modem is connected to the phone socket. Even though it's connected to the phone you can still use the telephone. This is called broadband technology because you can use voice(telephone) and data (Internet connection) on the same telephone line. Usually these are DSL connections There are wireless connections that you can use, 1 is wireless broadband and the other is Wi-Fi. when you say wireless broadband, you are connected directly to the modem. similar to DSL mentioned a while ago. It becomes Wi-Fi when you connect your broadband to a router (in layman's terms and in connection to the subject, is device that lets multiple computers use the broadband connection which was originally intended for 1 person) that can propagate wireless signals. When you connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot, you are not only connected to the Internet but to the others who are using the same Wi-Fi as you are. That is because you are inside what you call a network. It's the router's job to let you connect to one another(other computers) and the Internet. Connecting via Wi-Fi is not as good as connecting via LAN (RJ45) because a lot of factors can degrade the signal. The walls, the humidity, the air, people walking around, the ceiling, the floor, practically anything can degrade the signal Hope this answers our question
