Which one do you think is easier for you to do? To earn more or to spend less? For me, I am having a hard time doing both. I am not sure where I will focus more. If I look at my budget, I can no longer find any expense that I can reduce and I am also having difficulties finding the time to earn extra income. What do you think?

It's like playing basketball. You need both---good offense and good defense. One without the other, it will be very hard to achieve financial freedom.

That is a good point its just that sometimes is so hard having to focus on two things, so I wanted to know if I can only concentrate on one, which is better

i am also having a hard time doing both. if you will look at the budget, the salary i am receiving, you will find it less than the amount we need to buy all things necessary. it's really hard to spend less when you have less budget, in the first place. you can only to the earn more thing if you are working at your own time. but with a regular employee, this cannot be done so the spend less thing should be applied. the bottom line here is to work harder so you will earn more so you will not be thinking of spending less.

Yes, but if you are employed, working hard doesn't really make much of a difference unless you have the chance to get promoted and get an increase. Our organizational structure in the company I work in is pretty flat so there is no promotion waiting for me. I have to look for sources of income outside the company I work in and after my working hours and it is not easy.

It is always easier to spend more than earn more.Tightening up your purse is often difficult if you are on a spending spree.

I try to do both but earning in this jobless society is tough.
Have you tried unplugging your toaster, microwave, lamps and other appliances when you're not using them? That saves me $40 a month! Use only half the laundry soap they say to, you don't really need that much. Drink water instead of soda pop or if you absolutely must have some flavor use Kool-aid or lemon juice in your water. Grow a garden.

Thank you very much for your suggestions I will give them a try, I do want to start a garden, but since I live in an urban area, a 7-door apartment, we don't have space for a garden. I don't think we even have enough sunlight to make sure that whatever we plant on pots will grow. But I do agree that being able to grow some of my veggies would really save me a lot.

Just spend less. Even we earn small money. We everybody know that its hard to earn money but we can easily spend all the money even large amount or just single penny. for me we need to spend less as much as possible for us to have some saving to. Happy Lotting.

that is a good point, but what if everything we spend on is already a necessity?

I am also having time making more and spending less, especially in this economy, where everything has gone up a lot and it takes more to spend more. I am going to keep trying though, as I know I can do it. I just have to put my mind to it. I have had it pretty hard up until March and now things are somewhat better, as I have got my bills under control, and that is the most important thing. It was hard when I had to pay a mortgage, and my credit cards, along with the other bills. I just couldn't get ahead on my credit cards, as I had them almost maxed out, but now I have a balance of zero and I intend to keep it that way, if at all possible. Between my mortgage and the credit cards, I was paying over $1000 a month, and that never left me with a lot. Now that I have them paid off, I make more than I am paying out, so I am getting ahead. I must say though, that the last few month have been hard on my pocket book, what with taxes to pay, but now that they are done for awhile, I can rest easy and start saving my money up again, so when the property taxes are due again in November, I will have more money to deal with them, as I intend to start saving as much as I can, in that time. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I am so happy for you, you are a survivor! I wish I can say the same in the near future. Like you I have my credit cards pretty maxed out already. It must have really taken you a lot of disciple and will power to be able to settle your cards. I have done that many times, trying to pay off my cards then end up using them again when a need arises. Congratulations on your achievement
