I saw this cute cat in the wet section of the market the other day staring at me and as if telling me please take me home. So i decided to pick him up and take him in our house. The problem is we already have a cat inside our place as soon as he saw the new cat he turned berserk and mad at the cat that im holding. For now i caged the newly found cat and im feeding him regularly they are both male cats my cat and my newly found one. Im having a hard time trying to make my other cat accept the fact that he have a new brother already constantly picking a fight with my new cat Please help me out how will i be able to calm my other cat by not resorting to letting go of the new one?

I know others asked this but if your male cat is not neutered that must be done first, new kitten too. Unneutered cats in the house are going to be an awful smell once they start spraying. We have 2 adult house cats, male and female. Last Monday my husband brought home a stray kitten from town, he didn't want it to get killed. Our female was indifferent to it, but our male (fixed) went wild. Hissing, growling, tearing through the house. No one could come near him he was so defensive. It lasted for 2 days like that, he has 'calmed' a little but still is not friendly to her. I took her to the vet today. They gave her a worm med that will take care of any worms and gave her all vacinations. She is a small cat but they said she is full grown. She was extremely hungry when he brought her home! She is so full of love and has found her sleeping spot. Our tom has calmed down alot and tonight was the FIRST that he has come to see me since we got her. So It will take awhile but they should adapt. My female, Angel, came from the shelter and it took her 1 YEAR to warm up to us..now she thinks she owns our bed!!! Good Luck to you.

Our 3 cats are getting along fine now. It takes time to introduce a new roommate. I brought home another cat last Friday, a stray appeared at my daughters and she doesn't want it and they were going camping. It is a male so I moved him outdoors, he is just gorgeous. My house male didn't mind him so much and didn't have the 'fit' this time. He seems happy out in the barn. We shall see if he stays out there or if I take him to the vet and bring him back in the house. I too am a big cat lover.

I just cant get enough of cats too everytime i see one i just cant control myself but to take care of it. Even if my girlfriend dont like cats that much i just tell her that taking care of orphan cats is more like my calling. I know it sounds crazy but even cats have this liking to me sometimes even if i dont know the cat they dont treat me as a stranger, its as if they are my own already even if its our first meeting. Im thinking bout having a sanctuary for my stray cats sometime soon. Thanks for sharing your time with me again!

Well thats indeed an issue i mean when cats starts sprayin their you know what hahaha the house smells aweful but there are alot of ways to control it too. As you said having them neutered is one of the ways on how to control that annoying smell. And it will make your cats feel good and go along well with other cats too. I just cant get enough of cats myself lol

they both need a time of adjustment to get used to each other. the new cat needs to get used to his new home, and the old cat needs to get used to a new face. don't show any favoritism in front of the old cat so it won't get jealous. pet them together and show both of them that u love them so they both feel comfortable. when i adopted my current cat, it took him one week to get used to his new home. now, he is running around in the house, jumping up and down happily, and acting like a normal cat. when u play with both of them together, give them treats at the same time. try to make them comfortable when they are in the same room together, and give them time. everyone, including people, need time to get adjusted to a new everyone and new people.

Thats exactly what i gave them. ;) time to get to know each other and time to fight too so that they will be able to determine whose the boss and who will follow who. Good thing everything is doing fine already and that i dont need to worry that much about their co existence hahaha. They are just so cute together playing and doing all those petty stuff. Takes my stress away all the time .Thanks for commenting and have a great day ahead of you .

Are your cats neutered? Neutered males will be much more accepting of one another than non-neutered males. Then again, some cats never warm up to the idea of another cat, and you may need to find a new home for one of them.

They are not yet neutered up until now but my cousin who is a vet is convincing me to have them neutered already. And because of this particular incident that i have a new cat i think i will have them neutered all the same. After 2 weeks of hard work finally its as if they finally agreed whose the boss and all they go along well with each other already. Actually they even play with each other already its just so cute to let them play all day long. Thanks for the advice and sorry for the late reply

With our cat's case she fought with a younger boy that live by the neighbor but then learned to stay peace with him. She probably knew he's just going for the food and not to be taken part of the household so she stopped making fuss. I think if you feed the orphan well your cat will understand that he is already accepted and that fighting with him will only make you mad and the cat's reasoning then does not permit any sense of disgust toward the other one.

Maybe its natural with cats to fight with other cats to determine territory but as time goes by it also stops. Like in my case yes this cat of mine is fighting almost everyday with the new one but now they are pretty much fine and they go along well with each other. I just cant stop staring at them most of the time. Makes me feel so relaxed and makes me smile when im all stressed. How i wish instead of both males one of them is a female instead hehe. Thanks for posting and sorry i replied late.

Hey there, you deserve a pat on the back for taking in a homeless cat :-) Looks like your cat is jealous of the orphan cat. Earlier he had all you attention but now your attention will be divided among the two. Also since both are males, they won't get along well at first but slowly they will learn to live side by side. If either one would have been female, it would have been much better ;-) Please don't cage the cat, cats are not meant to be tied up and caged but to roam around freely. Just make sure you keep an eye on them so that they don't get into fights. I've had so many cats and kittens and a few of them are attention-seekers and get jealous when your gives the others more attention. Bottom line: let both cats roam around freely, they'll get used to each other soon and will become friends. Good luck :-)

Thank you for the compliment. Im a natural cat lover thats why it wont be too hard for me to take the poor kitten in . And after weeks of painstaking introduction to the two cats now they get along well already. And they play alot too, makes me feel so good to watch their innocent looks and how they play with one another too bad they are both males and that i wont be able to have small and cute kittens hehe.

There will always be territory disputes between established cats and new arrivals, but usually they settle down within a couple of weeks and work out who "owns" which areas of the house and a hierarchy will be established. We had 4 cats living together at one point and they were all fine, but it does take time and adjustment. There are a load of websites that will have tips for this kind of situation. Good Luck!

Yup it usually happens at the first few days of their get together. Always fighting with just bout anything petty things actually from the food from where the other one will sleep and all other stuff. But good thing after some weeks of enduring pain and headaches now they both feel good bout each other. They even play with one another as if nothing ever happened a few days ago. Pretty cute and so nicw to see indeed. Thanks for commenting and sorry for the late reply

Hey this is really cool for having another cat, we have five at home and yeah they are not related at all to each other so I had to introduce one by one to the elder one who is Zeebaw. Now they are all together and when they play you will never say that they are not siblings. I sort of giving them food together at the beginning and when they would try to fight I would simply take the food away and then they all come together to ask for food so little by little they got to understand that unless they are together and behave properly that I will let them inside the house.

As they say the more they are the better. I just cant get enough of cats no matter what i do. I mean besides the fact that they are so cute they also do lots of funny things that relieves me of my stress and makes me feel so light and feeling good too. I just wish alot of people will be able to appreciate cats too and stop treating them bad as well .Thanks for sharing

oohh what a kind person you are :3 and yeah, it really is a biiig problem if you put two male cats on the same house. your first cat might think that the other cat will steal his care and love from you. im starting to imagine your situation right now and hoping that it would be alright in the coming days. what if you do this,,, get a plate of milk and let the two share with it and repeat it everyday i think that would work... but aggressive cats are somewhat bad in your house, its a bad luck :) just try and observe them :)

Yeah i know my friend its pretty hard to take care of two cats at the same time specially the first night together its as if they will kill each other. I tried my best to keep the both of them calm and good to know this time after weeks of trying to make them feel good bout each other they now play and have fun together too and i feel glad bout it. Thank you for participating and commenting and hope to see more of you too .

Hi setsuna! I really admire you for being a kind soul. But personally I'm not sure how you would tame two male cats in a place dominated by the other. It makes it all the more difficult as cats are equally territorial. Sounds like a good idea to have one caged until they both decide it's high time for peace. Till then may you have peace yourself.

Thank you for the compliment my friend maybe im just like this.. i mean when it comes to those homeless cats i just cant help it but to do something bout it. Some people say im mad for doing all these stuff just to save these poor kittens who are lost or hungry but helping these creatures is just like helping people too.Good thing that both my cats are not that much fighting anymore. Maybe they already resolved the problem hahaha. Thanks for sharing your time my friend

first, im happy with what you did. why don't you make them play together? is the old cat much older than the new one? that thing happened to my cat too. what i did was i bathed them and i put them together. when i did that, they comforted each other because we know that cats don't like bathing. since then they accepted each other little by little.

Yeah the older cat is much older than the newly found pet of mine, good thing this time they are getting along pretty well already. But the older cat still is trying to pick up a fight every now and then but its not that aggressive as before. Im hoping this will be the start of a good relationship with those two. Thank you for giving me some of your time to answer to my topic ;)
