Which do you prefer? Education first or Business?

I am an irregular student in college... And recently had an opportunity to have a business that if I would focus on it, I would really hit it Big Time! But inside me, I do not want to be successful without any educational achievement in college. So, I'm left lukewarm on both sides... If I were you...Which one would you focus more?

I think it is important to have enough educational background on a particular subject to be able to understand the nature of a business if important to do so. You need to understand many things related to the business you want to do before going for it rexrevol. All the best luck from me though.

I also agree... It is actually what I had in mind if ever i decide to focus on business first... I do not really want to enter a battle unprepared or not having any plans/preparations at all... It is business we're talking about here and dealing with business is serious. Therefore I would take it seriously as well...Thanks for your ideas.

I'm not the one to ask since I disliked school and was delighted when I got out and was able to go to work. I think you have to examine yourself and what you want out of life to make that decision. Is there any way you could do both? I had a cousin who co-opt throughout his college years. It took him longer to get his degree, but he had a job throughout his college years and a good position with the company when he finished his education.

That's a nice example of a determined and hardworking person/cousin you got there. I guess if I may be able to do both...I'll just make sure not to falter.

As i will prefer education first because we should make our foundation best and in the college we can take business also .......if your are planning to do business you do have to study ........without knowledge we will run business. The main reason for going school is to study, not for business activities .So i shall give more focus on education.

Yeah. I think it's all about focus and learning to realize your priorities. And should also keep on stocking more knowledge in order to grow better as a well well-business-minded-educated being.

I will go for education because we need education and it helps a lot now a days. With out education no one can survive in this complicated world. So what you want to do you can decide after your education and never think doing some other things while studying.Do study hard and focus on your work. You can do all the things after you finish your study.

Yes. It pays to finish something first. And after it...you are free to do whatever you desire in life. But one thing remains...no matter what happens...your degree stays with you.

if you have the opportunity to indulge in business while still studying devote time to studying still. however, for the majority of us, i believe we should study first. there are things learned in school (not academics) that would be too late and would prove also disastrous if learned in the business setting already. good luck.

Yes, indeed. Not everything can be learned in just one road. There are many ways in which to choose from and education and business are among the top. So I say if you can do both at the same time without leading yourself on a danger zone. Then that would be great. But if you find yourself in the middle of a whole...stop digging and realize your priorities.

Education must be foremost in your life. How can you achieve anything without the knowledge to prepare? The world of business and be cold and calculating. You must have a plan. that has to start with education.

Education is important for sure. I mean, education will open a lot of doors and will give a valuable amount of knowledge to you. Knowledge that could help you succeed in many in cases. While I will not say that education is the most important thing in my life, it is quite up there. That is the main focus above everything else, as I know that if I falter in this, then it will cause me to falter in many other things in life. Running a business on the other hand, there is quite the chance of failure. There is a chance for success granted, but more businesses fail than succeed. It is nice to have that education to fall back on. If nothing else, it will allow you to become more successful, as you will learn what you should do and what you should not do . At least that is the way I see things.

If I were in your place of course I would choose to finish my degree in education and it could be easy for me to get a job after my education or to focus on the business. But if I am in the situation that we lack of money especially for tuition fee then it is time for me to work with my business to earn. At times it is really lazy to study that is why there are students that does not have any degree or they don't want to finish it when they started their work with financial stability.

I think I get your point of view. I guess it really depends on the situation. Sometimes we still need to think of the better practical solution.

just go ahead and do not hesitate to catch it if you are serious about the opportunity to succeed in business. maybe, you will never have another chance in your rest life if you give up this opportunity. so, if i were you, i will catch this opportunity to have my business and give up my college.

Business; you can get educatsion later and any expertise you need in the mean time you can hire in, if you can't afford it then sell part of the business (you would have none of it otherwise). College is good for getting a job, if you want to work for your self you don't need the certificate so just read the book.

this isnt really true the wner of pigani a super exotic car maker started out as a simple engineer working for firarri and he worked his way up then built his own car then bam his is doing well. So education is important for business ps every person you dont have to hire because you know is more profit for you in the end

There's almost nothing you will learn in college that will be a recurring benefit in business. Of course there may be some technical matters that you will have an opportunity to study in greater depth while in college. But you will acquire even more information about such subjects after your formal education. In fact, there will be many additional important areas of knowledge to which you will exposed only after starting to work. This presents a problem with your decision. That is, do you already have enough informal learning -- apart from formal education -- that will provide the highest assurance of success in a new business venture?

I'm guessing since you are in college, you already have an education. Are you going to college for business? You can't teach someone a skill like business. Yeah you can learn the legalities of business, forms, management techniques, etc, but its not going to make you a good business person. I've met many people who graduated from business schools, that could never have their own business, and the best job they can get is low level management in retail. If you are just looking to get a piece of paper that says you were educated in business then go for the college. If you're serious about business then the college would be a waste of your time. You either have it or you don't. It can't be taught.
