Your Best Job Ever

Most people go through life having many different jobs throughout the course of their working career. That said, there are going to be some jobs that you loved and some that you've despised. I'd love to hear about your favorite job that you've ever had. What were the reasons that you loved this job. For me, it was when I worked for a yearbook company. I worked for this place not just once, but twice. I worked for them when I was pregnant with my daughter as a data entry processor and I returned to work for them about a year and a half before my son was born and worked until he was born. The reason that I loved this job is that they were easy to work with. I could set my own hours and it didn't matter if I had 10 hours a week or 30 hours a week. I was able to work my hours in such a way that I was able to have a three day weekend every other weekend. The money wasn't great, but it was enough to pay the bills.

I dunno I guess I like my lil retail job now the best. It pays next to nothing, not even pay the bills *LOL* But I work with very nice people only a handful of grouches. I've never worked thus far in a place where everyone talked to everyone. I just wish it paid more and I got more hours but hey a job is a job especially w/ my availability to work around I'm thankful to have anything.

My DH has designated O/T days so I have those scheduled off. I agree they can make more than we can BUT when he doesn't get the o/t my lil check will help a lil bit in the difference. And for example just because I'm available this week 3 evenings I"m only scheduled one, so if DH wanted to try on the other 1-2 days for o/t he can. I usually only work 4-18hrs/week typically average about 9. I need a break from the kids, the house and it's nice to get out and be ME not "MOM" KWIM?

With my husband, there are no designated over time days for him. If his place of employment has the work that needs to be done, then he has to stay. The reason for this is because he is the only one with the company that is able to do his job. They've had other people that are able to do it but they never seem to stay for very long. I think this really boils down to the fact that a lot of those people are greedy and they expect more money than what they should rightfully expect.

I've had pretty much every job imaginable. I started off going through temp agencies and mostly doing factory work, which was beyond boring.. I mean a child could do this stuff, it's so monotonous.. but the good thing about some of the factories I worked for was that there was unlimited overtime and even though I was only making about $6 an hour I could still bring home $300 paychecks because I'd pull double shifts a few times a week. Also through temp agencies I've done office work. I worked in a mailroom for awhile, again boring and monotonous, and you really need to like your co-workers in that type of environment. Then I left the temp agencies and went out on my own to find some customer service jobs.. one year I was a vendor for the college football games, that wasn't terrible. I've worked in gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants.. I've done it all just about. My absolute favorite job though was working at Pizza Hut. I started there in December of 99 as a delivery driver. The money wasn't bad (I lived with mom so didn't need much).. but the best part was the people I worked with, it was just a really fun environment and I became very close with most of the people there. Actually that is where I met my husband. I quit that job after awhile, but shortly after my twins were born I went back.. my husband was the manager at that point, but I went back to a different store, again as a driver and eventually became a server and was working on becoming a shift manager. Again I loved the people I worked with, loved the work I did, and loved most of the customers too. Unfortunatly one day my husband came down with pneumonia and his boss would not give him time off.. he had to work around food while terribly ill. He worked like that for 3 days before finally throwing down his keys and walking off the job. Because of how his boss (the district manager so in a way my boss too) handled it, I decided I didn't want to work for that company anymore either.

Oh, and my least favorite job was a factory one.. my responsiblities were to watch a machine that made springs. That's all.. just watch it. Not load it, not remove the springs... just watch it, and possibly box up the springs when the box was full. I held that job for a total of 6 hours.

Nope, wait, I just remembered I was a telemarketer once too... we literally opened up the phone book and just started calling numbers. They didn't even tell us what we were selling, we told the people they'd get a free gift if we were allowed to come to their house.. then they'd send a salesman to that person's house. That was honestly the worst job ever... I do believe I finished out my first shift, but I certainly never went back!

I spent some time through the temporary agency as well. I liked the assignments that I got but I never really had the opportunity to get to know other people. That said, my husband used to work for Pizza Hut as a delivery driver and he said that those were good times.

My best job ever is the one that i am currently doing now. I went to nursing school as a mature student and i am now currently working as a qualified nurse. I absolutely adore my job meeting new people and the satisfaction that i feel on a day to day basis in helping people is wonderful. I wish i had done it much sooner. Now i know why they call it a vocation xx

It takes a very special person to be able to work in a vocation where you are helping other people. I loved the time that I spent in the medical field. I hope that I will eventually be able to go back into that field again.

Hi Dorann, The best job ever for me is when i handled a project wherein i facilitated trainings almost everyday and it's not only in the local but there were inernational trips. i learned a lot from there and fully honed my skills in facilitation. I too love the experience working with Teen Moms when i got the chance to work in the United States--the focus is more on counseling and preparing for independent living.

Being able to work with young mothers would be something that would be a very interesting job to me. I was younger when my children were born and though I knew that I was ready to be a mother, I know other people that needed a lot of help adjusting to the prospect of being a mother.

I enjoyed much when I'm working in my friend's shop repairing mobiles. The work is not that heavy and it's high-paying although it's not stable. There are days sometimes when we don't get a single customer even. And there are times when the mobile you are working on will get more damage than when it was brought to the shop. I'm working as a teacher right now but I don't enjoy much how the other teachers are treating me right now. I'm the youngest employee and because of their seniority, I can't say no when they give me all the paper works to be done in the computer. Not all teachers in my school have good computer skills so they let me do the work.

That is terrible that the other teachers where you are currently working feel like they are able to walk all over you. I hope that the situation with your coworkers is something that will improve in the near future.

Maybe it will change only when they retire or I look for another work.

I would hope that it would change sooner than that. It is awful to be treated like that.

probably the best job i ever had was being part of the market intelligence / business development department of our head office in norway. though i was still based in their manila office, i get to travel to norway, singapore, and malaysia regularly. i loved the "free" travel experiences but of course i also liked the idea of being part of the team that has to do with targeting business development areas. cheers and happy myLotting!

I've never been lucky enough to have the opportunity to work at a job that would allow me to travel. Something like that would be ideal for me because I absolutely love to travel.

I really liked the years that I worked as a nursing assistant as well. I loved helping people that were in need, but most of my co-workers weren't exactly the most positive people.

My best working experience was when my office sent me to work in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. I was working for a big Architects firm in my home city and had been there for 2 years.I enjoyed working the very much as it had a wonderful ambience. Then suddenly the chairman of the company called me and sent me to Muscat where a new office had been established. It was a dream job and for the first time in my life i was earning very well. My colleagues were excellent and the atmosphere was very informal and friendly.I made many new friends among the huge expatriate population and i really had the time of my life. I don`t think i ever enjoyed working anywhere as my four year stint in that country and in that office. There are wonderful memories of the time spent there which i shall cherish for my entire life.

My best job was the last job I've had. That was about 8 yrs ago. I was in charge of export sales in a Taiwanese company. I liked the fact that I used what I've majored in college in that job - international trade. I had the opportunity to have met a lot of foreign clients from all walks of life...some professionals, some strange ones, some funny ones...lol and I got to travel to other countries to attend product exhibitions. I sometimes wish I could get that job back but I'm happy as a stay@home mom now :) Good topic. Thanks.

I am now a stay at home mother as well. I really like being able to have that opportunity with my children, but I do miss the interaction with other adults from time to time.

My most favorite job was working for an art supply/framing store right when I started college. First, I was just a customer and from nowhere the manager asked me if I wanted a job. That never happened to me before so I took the chance . . . best thing I ever did. I did everything there - from cashiering, to doing displays, stocking, customer service, even framing and matting. The pay was minimal, but I got a lot of overtime hours - it was more like play rather than work for me because I loved it there so much! I met the best-est friends I could ever have there (who were also fellow artists) . . . and I feel I truly blossomed during that time. Also, I eventually dated my friend/co-worker there . . . and down the road he became my hubby.

The jobs that we have that feel more like play than like a job are perhaps the best kind of jobs. The one that I say is my favorite was more like play than like work as well. It was through that job that I learned the basics of graphic arts and since I've not worked for a few years I've learned far more about graphic arts in my spare time.

Yeah, as far as i am concerned, I think the most wonderful job that I have ever done in the past days may be a best seller in a super market. When I wa in a supermarket, I am doing a job to sell the Nokia ,which is said to be a very good quality mobile that used by most people in my area. That days, I sold a lot of cell phone. I am so gld to see I can do that job so well.

This is something that my little sister is very interested in. I keep encouraging her to do it and I think that she will do it eventually. I know that she would be good at it.
