Do you believe in Karma and Fate?

If I didn't believe in Karma I firmly believe I would be in a nut ward some where. I definitely believe that people should be responsible for their actions and for whatever bad or good choices they have made. I think fate is religion in a sense. Fate is interesting and I think it forms some great questions in my mind. What are your thoughts?

oh hi celticeagel I do sort of believe in karma as I feel if you do something wrong knowingly it is going to come around and bite you hard in the butt. What goes around comes around and sometimes you have had someone do something mean to you and you think this person gets away with murder almost then something shows you that he or she did not get away with a thing. My parents got an awful letter from someone to me or so they thought. but this was another girl with my same first and last night. My parents thought that the girl mentioned in the letter was me, and they accused me of being a streetwalker and other not nice things when I had never done any thing to warrant that belief. but then they read the Rapid city Journal and in it was a picture of this young woman street walket and a john being arrested in a different town in South dakota so finally my parents believed me,then when I went on vacation I found that my bank account was empty , this young woman using her name but myh bank account took all the money out. this was patentlythe banks fault as this bank way back then had thumb prints on all their users and I went back to my bank and asked why they let this young woman emptyu my account and they hemmed and hawed and finally admitted that their teller had not made her use her thumb print, so the bank had to return that money to me.

Wow! Fate was good to you, huh? I had $100 put in my account once years ago by mistake. I notified the bank and they never took it out. Something weird with the name. I never did figure it out. But I had an extra $100.

Hmm...very deep discussion my friend. I could go on for hours contradicting myself with my many beliefs where this is concerned. Just when I think I have it all figured out..well..something throws a monkey wrench in and messes it all up..lol. I do think that people are ultimatley held accountable in one way or another..either here or there...that is kind of "karma" and I think that good things also eventually come back to good people. I think that religion can help people "be good" but I also think there is just good. I think that religion helps people be more open to fate because they can lay it in someone else's hand and in that sense they don't feel so out of control. Life is tough..we need support and religion can give us that too. Ulitimatley I think that fate is ours and we control it to an extent but the part we aren't able to control remains a mystery to everyone. I do need to believe that we will be where we are supposed to be sooner or later.

So, you are a fatalist?! Karma seems rather obvious to me.

I have been called a lot of things but I must say that it is a first for that one..LOL..It is one of the nicer things though I think that there are alot of things that we do control where fate is concerned. I think that maybe we even have a couple of fates to choose from. I know that sounds strange but there are so many unexpected twists that we can't control..well..it kind of changes original plans sometimes...lol. Karma is pretty obvious.

I rather believe that if my intentions are right then my Karma too will be right. If my intentions are right then my fate too will be set right too. How can one's karma be right if his intentions are wrong? With right intention will be right Karma and right kind of fate.

I believe in fate and Karma though I also believe that it's possible for us to choose to a certain extent which path we take and so which fate / karma we experience. For me that's a good way to keep me focused and take responsibility for my actions :)

for the time being lets consider that there is no thing such as karmas.if it had been so then most of the students appearing for the competitive examinations should passout with flying colors.but it's not so.any activiy is performed by us after the thought of it arises in our mind.now u tell me can anybody cotrol his thoughts or does anybody now where these thoughts come from.according to me these thoughts are the result of karmas.but i still do belive that we can change the effect of our past karmas by doing good deeds.

I think that is one good reason for Karma. To help people control their thoughts and actions or be accountable for the same.

i also do not believe in karma. though sometimes people keep talking about it and mostly, when karma is being mentioned, people are afraid they might get bad things. i guess it's just a belief of some people.

I believe in karma. It doesn't matter with the name, i just believe in physic actions-reactions law. So whatever we did, these will result us. As long as we live in the real world, it really works. And about fate i believing it, we always make a choice in our life and the results that called a fate. Have a nice day.

Karma and fate are somewhat different. Anyway, karma is omnipresent; it's a law of nature which is independent of religion. The saying that "what you reap is what you sow" describes karma the best. You can't get apples out of orange seeds, can you? Fate, on the other hand, can be changed. The saying that "fate is in our hands" is also true. We can make things happen, for the better or the worse. We control the outcome. Hope my explanation is not hard to understand.

I don't ... I think our life depend only on ourselves, and on our own decisions.. everyone of us have a choice, and no one could say us what to decide...

Karma is reincarnation of humans into a lower species due to their bad actions and vice versa!! Karma is derived from Indian Vedic mythology!

Every human being has to go through his karma, good or bad, whether he believes in it or not. This worldly life of ours is based on the principles of 'cause and effect', in which if good deeds are done then the resulting fruits are good and if bad deeds are done then one will get bad fruits. When we are born we are pure but as we start to grow and when the brain starts functioning then the conditioning sets in and we start accumulating karma.Fate , in Sanskrit language is called as 'Prarabdha'.In past lives we may have done something, good or bad for which we start paying in the present life.Eg, if in a past life we have cheated a poor man, then in this life we ourselves will get cheated and have to suffer. We cannot avoid it but it can be reduced if in the present life we turn a good leaf. That is why there is such inequality in the world. Those who understand the working of karma and fate can withstand the turbulences of the worldly life but those who do not understand or disbelieve get buffetted by life`s trials and tribulations and suffer both mentally and physically.

I don't know what karma is exactly and I'm not sure if I beleive in it or not. I do believe people are responsible for their actions, though. I don't think fate is a religion.

I remember John Lennon wrote a song years ago called "Instant Karma". I was quite a record collector back then and I have that record somewhere. I was a big Beatle fan, anyway, lol.

yes friend, there is no escape the cycle of karma is just like the gaint wheel ride where one as per one karma deeds sits at the top and the other is doomed down and again up and down one we see in despair dismay will surely be in all glow and vice versa!!what we shall sow so shall we reap there is no escape friend!it not the matter of beleiving but its only the truth!!

I think the idea of karma is to scare people do bad things. And fate is to encourage people to good things. For me, it all defends in what you did in your life, how you decide, who you influence others. Misfortune really happens, just accept it and do better next time, and avoid blaming others for that. Fate don't just come, you should go to that fate. Work hard for that fate.

Oh, come on! That is sort of a defeatest attitude. Exactly- it does all depend on decision and influencing. That is fate. Karma is when you do something and have to pay the piper.
