I have the worst pain in m y neck and my back and i am trying so hard not to become Tylenol prone...it is so sad because heat makes it feel worse and ice burns as well so I am at wits end with figuring out what to do without taking pain medication any suggestions?

Is it because of your sitting position? I believe people nowadays have this problems. I do have. That's why i always hope i can get a good massage from my hubby. I even think of going to the professional massage shop. Massage can relax your body. You should try that. I think taking the pain medication is not a good idea. It does not really help for long term.

I figured that posture plays a key role in this as well I am so hoping that it is not a nerve that I hit...That would not be good....

hi ndubose (102) i think you should go to the doctor first and have x-ray on it, so you are sure that it's not a serious problem, then if it's not that serious that just needs a little rest, have a simple relaxation, you could try "yoga" it will make your body feel well, and of course it can remove your back and neck aches.. you could also try having a massage it can help remove back aches.. and try also drinking some herbal supplements that can be bought in the market it does not have chemicals on it so its safe.. have a nice day.. zedrick_11

I have to agree. In my personal experience, I have found that doing yoga might not help immediately but I can start to tell a difference within several hours and if I stick to it for a couple of days I then find complete relief. Massage also helps relax your muscles in the area that is causing you pain, which could cause some pain relief. Taking tylenol and ibuprofen alternately for one or two days also helps reduce the inflammation, giving the massage and yoga a chance to work even better.

I don't know if this'll work for you. I sit in bed, legs together stretched straight in front. Then I slowly try to touch my toes--never mind if the fingers only go as far as the ankles or forelegs. Just stretch slowly and as far as you can. Hold for 5 seconds. Then sit up straight slowly, your back straight. Do this about 5 to 7 times, slowly, especially on waking up in the morning.

I finally gave in and saw a doctor about my back pain. Nothing I tried had any effect at all. My doctor discovered I have arthritis in the spine. I am being treated by acupuncture. But, it hasn't been long enough to achieve any positive results.
