A few days ago I learned that I am pregnant and I have two dogs.
Do you think this is a problem for my baby?

It can depend on the breeds, training and personality of each dog, so it is hard to say. I know it is recommended not to leave a baby alone with any dogs as something might happen which would cause the dog to hurt the baby, so obviously you need to prevent that happening. But just be alert and look out for any signs of aggression. Make sure the baby respects the dogs too as it grows up and doesn't pull the dig's ears or something nasty. Good luck, it should all be fine :-)

I got my dog, Secret, in 2004. Then I got my dog, Magic, in 2006. Then that same year I got pregnant. My toddler son that is disabled was born in 2007 and my baby daughter was born in 2009. I still have both my dogs. They are miniature poodles. They are loving towards my two young children. Well trained dogs can be wonderful around a baby. A dog is for life and can be gently introduced to the new baby I think. There might be a time of adjustment but all is likely to be happy a few weeks later. A dog or some dogs make superb companions for a family, large or small. I hope that your pregnancy will go well and you will keep your two dogs in your family. I don't think the dogs will be a problem for your baby. As your baby grows up she or he could love your pet dogs. Caring for an animal is valuable knowledge for a young child.

It can depend on the dogs, but in general I would say no it isn't a problem. Sometimes, if the dogs are seriously spoiled, they can act out once the baby starts taking up your time. A neighbor we had once had that problem. She ended up having to find her dog a new home. She got snippy and territorial around the baby, so when she was holding her baby the dog would growl at the baby and try to push her off of the sofa when she was laid down. I would say that, in my experience, this is rare though. Usually dogs look at the baby as someone new to play with and take care of. They might have to be reminded to be gentle sometimes but usually dogs are good at adapting to a new baby.

it can be a big adjustment for a dog to get used to a baby in the house, so you need to be careful.
but ultimately, most dogs are fine around children, as long as the child doesn't tease or hurt them. because of that, you should never leave them unnattended together, in case the child hurts the dog and they defend themself. what would be a light warning nip to another dog can be quite bad on a child, if they catch them somewhere delicate.
if anything though, I feel sorry for people that grow up without dogs in the family. they miss out on so much
