I have a serious problem with my system. One of my partition in the hard disk has failed. I mean windows shows the partition is not formatted and needs to be formatted. i have important data in this system and need it badly, can someone help

Have youtried the following?
1) Restoring your OS to a known working point? It may work if the problem is due to a system glitch.
2) Taking the hard disk out, change its status to slave, and read it from another computer? This worked twice for me.
3) Downloading data recovery software? I have no recommendation on this matter as so far I have not used any. Read the features of each software, maybe there is at least one that can help. My memory may be faulty but I think I read somewhere a long time ago that in certain cases it is possble to recover the data.

i have tried all three.. first two did not work out.. third one there was some recovery time was clocking around 36 hours
