I have the kits to start making cards, but I have never tried it, it's hard enough getting to knit on a daily basis, because of kids being at home for the summer months it will make it even harder on me. But once kids go back to school in the fall, I may try these new cards out and see how well I can make them. They sound like they will be fun to make if I can get some peace and quiet.

I love hand made cards ! I have been fortunate enough to work with different people, who do them in their spare time and bring them into the office to sell. One year I bought a ruby wedding card especially designed for my brother and sister -in-law and they liked it so much they still have it on display in a glass cabinet with some of the presents they received.
I like the hand made cards because they can be designed exactly how you like, with friends names, their special likes, in jokes you share. etc.
You say you don't have many craft shops near you, so just a suggestion, but if , like me, you are a dreadful hoarder and have birthday cards , christmas cards stashed away, you could cut out some of the designs on those old cards and re-use them ?

hi jugsjugs we used to have a lady here who made cards like that and it was so neat but she has moved away.Do you have a place on the net where you can sell some of your cards? that would be so neat and I would bet some of us would be interested too. good luck and God bless.

I was wondering too where she sells them online, seems to me that most places don't have those types of crafts online for sale.

That really sounds like fun. I bet you love the hobby shops. We have alot of those around here and, ofcourse, the Hallmark shops. Toys and hobbies. The internet is probably great for finding the little extras to really make the cards special. I wish I was more artistic. People all around me are but not me.

That is very, very cool. What kind of cards is it that you are making? Is there a place that you market your cards?
The reasons that I am asking is because I am now getting comfortable enough with my scrapbooking that I am now considering going into business with the craft that I have come to love. The problems that I am having with making this dream a reality is that I really don't know where to start.

I love your post jugs and good on you! This must be such a fun hobby, creating home made cards! Something I have had a small hand in, in the past, as well.
Have you ever tried to make your own paper, to make your cards from? Paper making is something I have looked into but have not yet tried myself.
I am so interested in your post although reading through the responses, all the questions that came to mind have already been asked. Obviously you are very busy with the card making because I have not seen and comments in reference to the responses.
Please fill us in. I am most interested in knowing Do you sell your cards locally? Via the internet, or both?
Do you package the card with an envelope in plastic wrapping?
Lastly, do you use a commercial print shop to mass produce from a master or do you make all of them, including copies by hand? If so then each one must be original, meaning not one is alike?
Do you use photo stock for decoration or what?
I have always wanted to turn my photography but also paintings into little gift cards.
Please elaborate. I need some educated advice.
Looking forward to your response!
Have fun!

I love making cards too...it devours my time. My SIL just ordered ten and so I had to finish the order before this weekend when I go see her....and I also made a graduation card for my grandson. I also sell alot of them and also donate them for use by our troops and veterans. I just sent a hundred to project lifting spirits! Have you checked out splitcoaststampers? They have a ton of great ideas and you can post yours too for others to share!

This sounds like a good way to make some extra money. I enjoy doing crafts, myself. What are the websites you go to buy the items you need? I may want to check them out. I'm not interested in buying anything but I like to create greeting cards from the internet.

I have a friend who makes her own cards and she loves it. I do a lot of crafts, but have never tried cards. I would like to, but I am sure they won't be good enough to sell. Yours must be very nice to be able to sell them. Do you sell them on the Internet also as well as buy the supplies? There are a lot of craft shops around here, but I am disabled so I don't like to go to stores. What site do you buy the items from and is there anyplace you can go for instructions? Let me know and maybe I'll start on them sooner than later. Thanks in advance!

HaHaHa, well, hi jugs, I guess you have enough people asking you already about what kind of cards you make. That's a great craft to do, and I use to do them many years ago. It's so much fun! If you have any pictures, we'd all love to see them! Crafting is such a big business and I wish you luck with it all! Take care now.

Good for you! I haven't done any since December. Too many other things going on and I have been consumed by writing. I need to get at it though.
