Soups and casseroles are easily done with anything you have in your fridge. Spices are always to taste, so put a little and then taste it. Remember that you have to put a little less salt than the first taste. When it boils it disolves and is more salty.
For a soup you can make a stock first. That can be done from scratch or use a cube or can. If you can, it´s less expensive to but a bone or use a carcass of chicken plus boiling water, an onion, a pinch of oregano. While boiling you add whatever you have in your fridge, starting by the food that takes longer to cook. Carrot, potatoes, pumpkin. Fresh veggies at last (like green beans, peas, spinach). I use a lot of leek as I like the flavor of it (put it with potato).
With this you can eat it many ways. One way is to take out all big pieces of food and eat them in a plate with mayo or olive oil. Then you can have the soup thickened with rice, pasta, cornmeal. Another way is to make a thick cream using the blender. Then you add some milk or cream and serve it with parmesan cheese over it.
You tell me what´s in your fridge and I´ll tell you what to do. Refrigerators are like computers: they are personal. For instance, I just took out and boiled 4 artichokes from mine. But I know that is not what I´d call "typical".
Take care!

I would first of all like to thank you for being the only serious response on here it is much appreciated. Also Thanks for the soup and casserole ideas it's really helpful. Things in my fridge change constantly since I'm not a consistent person.

Thank you for the compliment and I´m glad it helped. My fridge is not always the same but I use whatever I have at hand. Step number two would be the severeal use of eggs. But that´s another story

This is one of my favourite quick and easy meals - cheap, tasty , healthy andtastes good too!!!
I usually serve it with a salad but was also good with beans. Just cook your jacket in the microwave.
Slice a top off the potato, scoop out some potato from the largest section ( keep potato for use in fish cakes etc.) Place the potato on a baking tray and break an egg into the hole, put top of potato on a baking tray, put into a hot oven until egg is cooked to your liking.
I have put in a picture

Yes I have just the recipe you're searching for_ Its Called, "Nail Soup!" This soup is very easy to make as all you need is a nail (the kind you use to fasten two pieces of wood together using a Hammer) Fill a medium pot about 1/3 full of water, and bring it to a simmer. Then carefully add a nail. (it doesn't have to be a new nail but make sure its clean) Stir gently as you think about how good this soup will taste. If you happen to have a bit of flour it might thicken the soup. Keep stirring! Some people like to add a few pieces of leftover chicken from yesterdays dinner. This will add some flavor. Personally I enjoy soup with a few vegetables floating in it. My wife always stirs in some cooked rice. Now its time for seasoning. Throw in some salt and pepper and a little bit of thyme.
Serve up the soup (and save the nail for the next time you want to make soup)
