It all depends on what speakers u wanna play. If u got good 5.1 speakers, then u can go ahead with VLC itself but it distorts the resolution of the movie. But still I prefer it, coz am doing the same.
But if u think that theres too much of grainy resolution then, plz go ahead with power dvd pro player, may be platinum or media classic player(k-lite pro).
See, the thing is that its a paid software. Either u can get it from sources u know what i mean, or if u dont like that, then VLC would be the best option.
Also u havent mentioned whats the file format. it depends what kind of a blue ray/rip file, so that an appropriate codec can be used.
Hope answered ur question in some way.

you may try media player classic / with the latest codec, if that player won't still your file, maybe your file is corrupted.

I prefer VLC.I think it is the best player for playing all types of file formats.
what type of file format are you trying to play?Is it m2ts/mkv/.BDMV/.mk2v/mpeg/avi,ect..?
Either that file must be corrupt or incomplete if it is getting struck.
one more advantage of using vlc is that it increases sound upto 400% which is unique.
You can also try KM player or k-lite media codec pack.
Have a nice day!
