Pillows and comforters basically are easy to care for and the drying method could varies between two. A comforters could be dry for almost four hours and pillow for almost two hours. However some prefer to hang it on the clothesline while other people would decide just to remove the cotton inside the pillow case or foam and let it soak on the sun. Some even have their pillow unwashed and they just hang it outside just to let those pillow mites disappear so keeping pillow fresh and breathable and they just replace the pillow cover. often times pillow maybe wash manually or in a machine. Whatever you prefer best it's up to you. How often do you wash your pillows and comforters? How about you, Do you air dry your pillows under the sun or just hang it until it dry? Why their is a need to do it and for what purposes? 5-19-10 11:50

My mother always take the pillow to the sun to air dry it and I like it this way because every time pillows are inside the house so they have to feel the air too. And besides my grandma says that if there are bacteria inside they will flow away and the sun takes off all the smell if any in the pillow.

hi med, yeah, that is the things too which my mom told me and even the pillow is keep unwashed as long as it aerated. it could makes the pillows smell fresh even best if they are dry under the natural sunshine. it is the faster way to remove moisture and including the things you mention like bacteria, maybe mold and mildew. thanks.

I don't know what's the point of letting the pillows air dry under the sun. When I clean my pillows, I just hang them to the corner of my room beside a window and leave it there for hours. Our previous maid, though, did leave the pillows under the sun. I never bothered asking her what

My mother use to remind me to put the pillow outside to air or sun dry so that the pillows would be keep fresh and smell clean. So sun dry is more prefer than air drying. It is say they could kill the mites hidden in the pillow and you could let the pillow aerated to keep the moisture away and it good habit to do it to makes the pillow more clean and makes anyone sleep on it feel more relax since it more feel hygienic. thanks.

I use a washing machine and dryer to do my laundry. It's not that I would object to drying my comforters or pillows in the sun. It's that I live in a very windy place, with a lot of red dirt. A LOT of red dirt. And it isn't apparent that so much dirt can be around until the wind starts, and then anything left outside to dry is covered with it.

We just air dry our pillows and comforter under the sun. We hang it all in the roof . Because we need to wash our pillows sometimes, we don't know how much dirt is living inside it.

What's a comforter?? hehe ^_^ So far, i dun think i have ever washed my pillow.. haha =D The furthest i will go is to change the pillow case every month or so.. WHile take my pillow out to sun, occasionally.. haha =D I guess most ple will choose to air dry their pillows as compared to washing it right?? After all, we do have a pillow case over the pillow, and thus it should not be that dirty.. hehe

i guess pillows smells better when air dried under the sun. so that is practically how we clean them dry. we don't have comforters so i can't tell how to clean them.

I have hung my pillowcases on the clothesline in the summer because I like the outdoor scent on them. I don't hang them out in the winter because it's too cold some days then and they don't get dry. It's during that time of year that I use my clothes dryer. I do my sheets the same way. I wash both my sheets and pillowcases about every two weeks.
