Have you heard the news? Yahoo is buying Associated Content for an undisclossed sum (but I read at ALT1040 that it's around 1 million dollars). I don't know what to think about the news, it's something great for AC to get bought by a major internet company, it's great for the advertisers because yahoo will surely drive yet more traffic to AC, but I, as a starter freelance writer don't know if this is good news to me, specially because yahoo is saying that they will be adding more review "layers" to the articles before publishing.
So, what do you think about this news?

Nothing much except it might make Associated Content more interesting to me. I have an account with AC, but I don't have much interest to write and publish my writings there. There are restrictions for non-US residents so it's a bit problematic for me. If Yahoo can open AC up to non-US residents, I might go there again.

So bassically all we can do is hope Yahoo! will let non-US writers publish on AC and get paid by doing so. I have my doubts about that, that's one reason I'm not liking this news. But maybe yahoo can do that, after all they are a big company and buying AC they are getting just bigger. Let's see what changes they decide to make to Associated Content.

To be honest I'm not sure... since I am in the UK, I have actually stopped writing articles on that site now, since they can only pay US residents, so I kind of take my writing elsewhere now which is a shame because I did really enjoy that site and I thought it was set up really well

Well let's hope that Yahoo! change the way AC pays and that they start paying non-US residents because there are many talented people that could bring interesting articles to Associated Content outside US. Maybe with this acquisition that would be possible, Yahoo! is a big fish, maybe they can find the way of paying writers outside the United States, let's hope so.
