Hi Mylotters!! Here is a question for you.. Are you scared of looking downwards from a great heights?? Did you ever tried to look downwards from the balcony or roof of a tall building or from the top most point while riding a roller coaster,or from any other top most point... I am not scared of heights but I certainly feel a bit uncomfortable while looking downward from a roof with no railings.. So,what about you all?? Please share. Thanks! Happy Mylotting.

No,I don't feel scared but I too feel uncomfortable like you when I look down. When there are no railing,it's even worse. But again I do get used to it if I'm at that place for a long time.

I went to the Sears building in New York many years ago and had an anxiety attack while looking out of the large window on the observation deck. It happened when I looked down so I try not to do that when I'm very high up anymore.

I thought the Sears Building was in Chicago. I went to Canada in 1989 with a tour group and we drove through Chicago. We drove by the Sears Building but we didn't have time to go up in it. When you're with a tour group, you're kind of pressed for time. Anyway, I remember our bus driver telling us that it was taller than the Empire State Building. That really surprized me because I didn't think anything could ever top the Empire State Building. I understand the twin towers were taller than the Empire State Building, too.

I am afraid of heights. I feel shaking when I stand at the top of the height. But when I am in the amusement park, I still want to try the roller coaster. I want to try all of these exciting games before I grow too old to try them. I love China

I am not afraid of heights. I worked building power transmission lines for a few years, and that required a lot of time far above the ground. Then I was a millwright for a while, and once again had to work way up there. Once, we did a job changing a bulk cement processor from gray to white cement. We did a lot of stuff on the top of the building, which was a bit over 200 feet up. They hired some young fellows as labor at one point in the job. One of them (on the roof) went over to the railing, looked down, and said "Wow! How high up are we, anyway?" One of the iron-workers said "What difference does it make? Fifty feet will kill you. More than that just means you have more time to scream on the way down." That young fellow refused to go on the roof anymore. He worked on the first and second floor after that. I have walked the beams on the "high steel" and it is okay. You just have to pay attention to what you are doing every minute. Every second.

Hi,tuyakiki.I am scared of height so much that every time I look down from the bacony or a great height.I live on the 7th floor and it took me a long time to get used to it.But even this I still feel some scary when I look out from the window. And I have the feeling that I want to jump then fall when I stand pinnacled.I don't know why I have such this strange feeling and someone told me it cause I have a phobia.

If anybody says that he is not scared while looking down from a bog height, he is telling you lies or showing how much brave he is. I have done frequent rapplings also and have gone up on buildings/mountains while in police training, still I feel a bit scared while looking down the earth from a mountain-edge or from top of the building. Remember, you are no exception.

hello friend. It has been a childhood scare for me, to look down, from not so great a height, but from the 7th floor balcony.. but, once I decided that I am going to be very very HIGH in my career, I started getting the FEEL. and, soon, overcame the fear of heights. Now, I think, i can walk on to the portico of any heights. BUT, truly, i did not find time to look down. Hope you will share your feelings too, ...

I am extremely afraid of height and my sister laugh at me even in highest building i felt nervous like felt to prefer crawling and imagining somebody would push me in the ridge. That happen during my younger years and when i taste the excitement of height when i try to control it when i ride a roller coaster, the highest ferris wheel. I know now the feeling it makes me exciting to crave for more higher experiences since i thought at first it would drives me nervous. But the result when i try it i get a different feeling i am looking more forward to reach the top of the highest mountain, do bungee jumping or parachuting it add to remove my fears and the confidence one could get after all those activities is astonishing!it pays to try it drives the fear away for so long that I may not die i like to experience adventures that includes highest peak..

bungee jumping - i don't like trying this one,i guess i would love to try rapelling as well.
hi neelia, i don't think i can bear doing the bungee jumping, but i do like to experience climbing the walls or rocks until i get to the highest mountains.or the rapelling,i must say i want to try that not like the bungee jumping.having the thought of bungee jumping itself is ridiculous for me and i don't like to be upside down.i want the idea of flying and seeing the environment all around but i'm afraid of facing it like when doing bungee jumping.it's like i'm falling and didn't know if i'd be alive when i hit the grounds myself.

Same with me. I am not afraid of heights but when I'm already up high, I feel like I am gonna fall. I don't want to look down when I am up high. Although, I love adventure. I actually have gone to Macau tower and did the skywalk. At first I am tensed and like I want to scream in fear. But afterwards, I have conquered that fear and managed to enjoy what I am doing. I felt it's a great accomplishment since not everyone can do it, I believe. Now, I am looking forward to bunjee jumping. lol.

hi tuyakiki, i've answered this question in my own previous discussion already but i'd also like to share my piece here. well, i don't really like heights and it feels really uncomfortable when i'm in a high place.looking downwards is scary.but sometimes i can manage.depending on high place is that.and i don't like when i was in a high place like riding a roller coaster where you feel like you've been throwing yourself around and around. let me tell you a story. i recently go out of our place with my family and went for adventure, like hiking the mountains of our nearby place.well,we lived in a high place where there's a lot of mountains and fresh air around us. but we went to this place much higher place than our hometown.and it really feels nice. i've come up to the highest part of the place and i felt free for a while. it's a great feeling when i started spreading my arms (like of titanic movie) and feel the warmth of the air that embraces me while i was wet that time because i came out of the pool that time and head for the mountains, really nice... when i am at the top,i felt freedom.i'm seeing the wonderful mountains all around me and how lovely the cloud is.i'm just lovin' it and i forgot i was afraid of heights for a while...

Yes, I have been scared of heights for as long as I can remember. I especially hate walking over the sort of bridges where you can see the ground blow through the gaps. But I don't like any kind of heights. If I am walking on a high bridge, I have to stay in the middle and not look down!

I do not consider myself scared of heights either. But there are certian things i would not consider safe to do. Such as being ona roof or a roof with not railing. Roller coasters are out too.

YES! YES! YES! I can't look down for very long. I think it really depends on whether I am up on a small space or down secure behind a safety shield or grating. Know what I mean? If I am behind something I would feel more secure. And I don't care for small spaces either.

Aside from my claustrophobia, I think I also have a thing about heights. Anytime I am in a tall place, I can't help myself from going on the edge and looking down. Of course it gives me a sickening feeling, but I still can't help it. Acrophobia or not, the perspective at higher elevations are sometimes worth the sickening feeling.

I do scare of heights , even when I just look down it's fright me so much. One time I was working in my field and my Supervisor told me to measure something at the top of post which I need to climb maybe 1.5 story , which I declined to do so my Supervisor was terribly mad at me but he cannot do anything.I told I 'mscare of height but when work here in Canada I did climbed about more than two story building without harness. But now i should my mine that I can do it.
