Must you use cell phones in bathrooms as well?

Especially public restrooms where the sounds are amplified and echoed? I heard acquaintances whose jobs are taking phone calls telling stories of many that have the definite sound of urination in the background. Today in two separate occurrences I entered public bathrooms where there was a guy on the toilet yapping away. On one of those occasions I had to go as well, and I don't think the other end of that line appreciated the loud bursts of sounds I make during bowel movements.
So for those who wish to respond, are your phone calls so important that you would answer while your splashing and plopping and pooffing away, or do you wait until you are done with your business?
Ever took a call with all the telltale sounds in the background?
As for myself, I would never use the phone in a bathroom. It seems to me the tackiest thing anyone can do.

I never use my phone in a bathroom. There would be risk that I could splash water on it and it might get broken by that. And the worst thing if it falls inside the toilet bowl while your pooffing away. And its kinda irritating to my ear hearing loud echoing ringing tones while inside the comfort rooms. If someone calls me while, I just ignore it and plan to get to it later.

A few years ago I had a phone that fell in the toilet. It still worked, but their was water damage to one of the ports. I had to grab it from the toilet though, which was gross even if it was my own business, it was still a public bathroom... so yucky.

Hiya Qaeyious. I wait until I'm done with my business before using the phone. To me toilet time is private time, not to mention I find it gross to use the phone while I'm doing my thing. Chances are hands will be dirty from using the toilet and I wouldn't want to handle my phone or put it up to my ear with potty hands because that's just nasty!
Oh, could you imagine it accidentally falling in the toilet while using the potty? Not only would that be an embarrassing one to explain to the phone company or to anyone else for that matter, but having to fish it out isn't something I'd ever want to do. Ewwww!
So, if it can be helped I'd rather avoid it. Because to me phones and toilets just don't mix.
Happy mylotting!

Going once - going twice - sold.
I read somewhere that urine is relatively sterile as long as the person doesn't have any diseases. I like what the late great George Carlin said, that if you feel you need to wash your hands every time you touch your (ahem) you have a more serious hygiene problem that you washing your hands will not fix.
But the browns stuff from the other orifice, well, it does stink for a reason.
Thank you for your response.

The only people I will talk to while in the bathroom is family. My husband calls me every night when he goes on lunch, and there are times I have to go to the bathroom, so I will just grab the phone and wait on his call. He always calls me when he's in the bathroom and I can tell if not for the slight echo then the sound of the urinal flushing and the sink turning on. If I were to get a call about business and the other person was in the toilet and you could clearly tell? I might say Call me back later.
