Over the weekend, my husband and I went to a local wine festival. It was lots of fun - for the most part. We tasted a lot of new wines (and liked quite a few), we had some great food, listened to some good music and just pretty much relaxed. Then on our way out, I didn't see this hole in the sidewalk and fell flat on my face! When I went to get up, I couldn't put any weight on my one foot. I told my husband to go grab this man in a bright yellow shirt - I thought he was security, but I just needed someone to get me a wheel chair or something. Well, the guy was first aid, he radioed to the rest of the first aid people and got me splinted up and onto a cart. They wanted to put me into the ambulance to go to the hospital, but we wanted to go to the hospital closer to our home. So, about 5 hours later, I'm seen by a nurse practitioner, in the hallway of the hospital - I didn't even get an exam room! The x-ray showed no breaks so they splinted me up, gave me crutches and sent us on our way. So, I go to the orthopedics and they take another x-ray just to be sure and agree that there is nothing broken, it's just a really bad sprain. Then I get one of those boot things so I can ditch the crutches and actually get around. I'll be in this for 3 weeks. It's not fun, but it's manageable... I haven't had to deal with many things going wrong with my body - stitches once, no broken bones, and only had 2 minor surgeries. What are you battle wounds?

Oh no, what a way to end a good time..My battle wounds? Other than getting poison ivy earlier this year, the only thing I can think of is since we don't have a roto tiller, I have to expand my blackberry patch by hand and my lower back is screaming in protest..I still have more to go and hope my plants don't die before I get them in the ground..
