Why does Superman wear his undies over his clothes?

This is one question I've always been wondering about. Just the other day I've asked an oke thats working with me, why he's wearing his underclothing also like Superman, over his clothes. He still have to respond to this...

SUPERMAN IS FROM THE PLANET CALLED KRYPTON WHERE ALL THE PEOPLE WEAR THINGS THAT LOOK LIKE OUR UNDERWEAR OUTSIDE THEIR TROUSERS,IT IS ACTUALLY A RADIATION PROTECTOR AS KRYPTONITE IS HARMFUL FOR THEM.THEY CALL IT OUTERWEAR.HE WEARS IT OVER HIS ABDOMEN AS IT IS THE MOST VULNERABLE PART OF (EVEN) SUUUPERMAAAN.
THE OTHER THING IS THAT SUPERMANS BLUE COSTUMES ARE SO TIGHT THAT HE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE THIS THING INSIDE.
