does anyone know someone who has been a victim of identity theft

I have a friend who has had her identity stolen and it has been a nightmare for her. She basically lost her job because her credit was ruined. And now she is having health problems because of the stress. Has anyone had this happen to them or someone they know and if so, what did they do about it?

She is not sure how it was stolen but she thinks that it was stolen when she was applying for something online and had to give her ss #, which is never a good idea.

She should not feel overcomed by the situation because it will worsen to the expense of her health. She should react in a right way.
Comfort her and help her to bring the matter on legal office. It can be traced. She should find a way to clear her name, whatever reason it was.

I had experienced something like this. Someone stole my picture and used it in facebook. He adds a lot of people as friends then chats them with insulting remarks. I reported this person to facebook's costumes support but they didn't do anything about it. It sucks.
