bleeding ulcers

My friend has a severe bleeding ulcer in her stomach and has almost died. They have done surgery twice and now she is taking shots to try to help. Does anyone have any knowledge on bleeding ulcers and what treatment options and recovery time are necessary. I know that it is really serious. I just am leary of the way the doctors have been treating it.
