Well, if you care about your marriage then I would not buy a dog until you have the green light from the wife. If you really really want a dog then you just have to keep talking about it to her. If it is something you really want and if she cares about the marriage then she should be willing to work with you. What are her reasons for not wanting a dog? Is it the expense, the time? Dogs involve almost as much time, attention and expense as a child would. It isn't a decision to be made lightly.

Wow, usually it's the other way around. Anyway, depending of course on your relationship is, I say keep the wife, forget the dog. It'l be inteesting to see what other responses yout going to get.
