If you could reroute any of the US tax dollars where would you put them... I would take all the money that we use in outerspace and put them back on Earth to fix some of those problems rather than researching things that only very good telescopes can see...

hi lillybelledaisyrose I would take the money spent on making war and use it for helping people to get backinto jobs, and make enough money to take care of their families. we need here in theUS to think of this country first as it is in trouble, people need jobs, those with jobs need to be paid better and rents on house and homes need to be lowered and managers and owners need to quit being so damned greedy. this country need to help itself first then help its neighbors.

The money isn't disapearing into outer space, it is being spent on wages of people who then spend it in shops, it is being spent on buildings which then need staff and it is being spent on scholarships which make another generatsion of successful people.
Moving money out of space dosen't create new money.

Unlike the others here who say that outerspace research money is wasted,I'll disagree for a change.
If you think more logically with the future of mankind in perspective, you might agree that money is well spent on space research. The problems in Earth will Always be there as long as mankind exists.Infact as the population increases these problems are going to increase more no matter how much money you spent on it.
My suggestion is to start looking for other planets to colonize.Only that can solve most of man's problems.Ofcourse that is a very long way to go,but unless we start spending some amount of money *Now* we might never reach that goal in the future. Moreover in the future, planet Earth might itself become uninhabitable.
I'm not saying that spend all money on space research, but my suggestion is,to not ignore it and think of it as money spent for the benefit of man's future.

I very much agree with you. The main thing I would want to do is redirect the funds for space exploration. I think we need to focus on the problems on EARTH before we worry about other planets. Space discovery isn't going to benefit us at this point in time and likely not anywhere in the near (or even somewhat distant) future. However, that money COULD benefit us now. There are people starving, lots of medical research efforts that could use funding, and education, which is another really big one. In my high school, getting new textbooks was such a big deal that everyone would argue over the new books. The textbooks themselves were usually at lest 10 years old, sometimes older, which is pretty ridiculous. Obviously textbooks shouldn't be changed every year, but some fields need textbooks more than every 10 years (like every 5 years) because things change so rapidly in certain fields.

You came up w/ a good one. Those researches are just beneficial for star-gazing addicts. Maybe if we used the money that we give them for homeless people there'd be a lot of improvement here on earth. Lol. :)
