Here is a question for all myLotters... Have you ever asked for a raise in salary to your Boss??? How did you do it?? And did you get the raise that you wanted??? If you haven't ever asked, then please let me know how would you ask? What would be the perfect time and mood of the things(or of the boss)? If I am to do it, I would choose the time, when everything is well in the office and the production is to satisfactory levels... That is the perfect time, I trust! And yet, I am not 100% sure whether it'll work perfectly or not.. Please share, how have you asked for a raise? And did you get it??? If you haven't, then how would you ask??? It'll be great to exchange the ideas here...

u should have the leverage to ask for a rasie ,like good management or hold the tall sale then u can do that and at the time ur boss is at good temper with nice atmosphere that is also the gold opportunity

I never asked for a raise. I would only do if I get promoted and after the promotion there's no telling me about the salary. Here in my company we have salary increase annually. Maximum of up to ten percent of our basic, so that's okay enough and depending on the company's performance for the year as well.

Hello, Mr_Pearl. I believe that the first thing you must consider is your performance. Does your performance more than satisfactory for the company and does your boss know about it? Next, the company's standing. Is it capable of giving a raise or it has suffered retrenchment lately? If the answer is the former, then you can ask for a raise. The perfect timing is when the boss has enough time to consider your request like no hectic schedules or meetings, not much event going on and he is not planning on a trip. I mean, approach him if the atmosphere is on the relax mood. otherwise, your request might be forgotten or over shadowed by other more important things that concerns your boss. You can write your request and delivered the content of your message in a professional manner not sounding like you are asking favor from a relative or a friend. Convince your boss that you deserve it because you have earned it... Goodluck and God bless.:-)

as long as I work, I've never asked for a raise but I ever asked for additional facilities for my work to my boss. Maybe this is different but the goal is same i.e is how convey our desire to the boss, right ? The way which I do is directly convey my desire to the boss, of course, before it, the first we should see situation and condition our boss

Hi Advotkatku... Thanks for sharing... Yes, the basic purpose was to ask about 'How to do it?' The direct approach is a good answer, provided the Boss is in the right mood and the situation is suited for it.... Have a great time!!

Be polite and gentlemanly and ask if you might share a moment of his time, then just ask for a raise. If he asks why you think you need a raise, tell him kindly and to the point. I have asked numerous times over the years and found the direct and relaxed approach is best. Make sure the boss isn't angry at any one and just follow your plan. I know you now well enough to know you do great! hugs, quita

Mr_pearl: I dont really think I could do that. Hehehe. I know that sometimes we feel like we deserve more than what we earn for our hard work,my boss has been good to me. Maybe I'll just wait for it to happen. I cannot really answer your question because I have no idea. =)
