I Played With Legos for the First Time In 10 Years...

And it felt great! I was feeling really down and depressed a few days ago. I was in Target because I needed to buy a pair of khakis and I decided that I wanted to buy a toy for my little cousin. So I was over in the toy section trying to find something that she would like and I ended up on the Lego aisle and something said "Buy some!". I stood there for 10 minutes debating whether or not to get them. I finally broke down and bought Darth Vader's Tie Fighter. I lied and told the cashier that I had two little cousins. As soon as I got home I sat down in the middle of the den and started building the ship and I just felt so relaxed. It was like going back to a simpler time when I wasn't always stressed out. I'll probably go back next week and buy more Legos.

Isn't it great to be child like. I think my brother bought all the tractors and toys for my son, so that he could play with them himself. I know i do for my grand children.

Hi sallyj: Even if I sometimes ask myself if I would be a good father or not I can tell you that yeah, it's really nice to feel for a moment like a child. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

That is a great idea! I also loved playing with Lego as a kid and again when my children were younger. It is a great toy and can be both creative and fun, as well as relaxing and something to do. I read a book written by Richard Hammond (TV presenter of Top Gear) who had a near-fatal car crash. He said he played with Lego a lot during his recovery and it really helped him.

What an inspiration!!! I've been depressed of late myself. I can't say that I've used Legos for stress relief but I can certainly relate to your healthy release. Just reading about what you did made me feel a little better. Thank you for sharing this with the community.

Hi Shorty Akbar: I think that's a nice story. I haven't played with Legos for so many years and I really missed those times where I was just a child and the problems I have to deal weren't so difficult as they are nowadays. I love to play with Legos because you can feel relaxed when you just build and destroy your own work, it's really nice to play with them because you do just what you want. Thanks for telling us such a nice story. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

wow! i hope i could also create ships and planes using legos. all i can do are buildings. square buildings i mean. i suck at art and all i can form from legos are squares and rectangles structures. well.. it's nice to be young at heart sometimes.

I laughed when I saw your post. You are so right! I color in kids coloring books. This relaxes me and takes me to a better time! I think we all need to sometimes. By the way, no need to lie anbout it! Anybody that would laugh at you probably is secretly jealous!

I think it is sad that you felt like you needed to lie about who the legos were for. I mean there are lots of adults that like to have toys to play with to a certain degree. My husband loves radio controlled cars and I actually like playing with my daughter's Barbies from time to time. Having shared this fact, that exactly the reason that I can see why you found it enjoyable to play with Legos. If it relaxed you, then I think that it is something that you need to do more often.

I also liked legos. I had a bucket of them but i lost them. I think they were sold the last time we had a garage sale. I used to build castles and building with them. Then i'll put my gi joes inside the castle and pretend they're knights guiding it. Lol. It was fun.

It seems that more often than not it is usually the simpler things in life that lift our spirits. I'm 21 and I would honestly still play with legos every now and then if I had them. It's just a nice outlet for creativity and to have some fun with something simple. That sounds awesome.
