Make sure you follow the doctor's instructions to a tee. I experienced a similar bite on my arm and even with antibiotics it got infected.

hi Gabs you are the survivor of a warm bad dog against kind lady. Oh that must be painfull. If his teeth had sunk into Gissi like that,oh lord. well am so glad that Gissi is okay. just wish that none of that had happened. that owner is now in serious trouble. I dispise dog owners who let their dogs run loose like that. She must have realized after that first attack with her blasted dog that the dog was vicious, so why did she let him run loose? So sorry you had to be the one to get bitten. I imagine the next day or too will be the most painful then it will ease up. I know in an automobile accident the day of the accident you just feel shaken up but the second day is the worst. When I fell and smashed all the bones in my left shoulder that day it was just sore, but the next day oh my g,and the surgeon came in and said give her a pain shot before she goes to x ray instead they took me to x ray first, and I tell you that pain was twice as bad as having both babies put together I shrieked when he made me move my left arm, and I had to take my right arm to do that. he did not seem to realize that a broken shoulder severed the connection to your left arm, you might try all day but without the conections you cannot raise your arm because of the break. I am hoping that they give you enough pain medication to at least stop most of the pain. This plus the terror you must have felt must have been bad on your breathing. Hope your insurance will cover everything.take care Gabs. love you and Gissi too, lots of hugs and hope the pain lessens a lot.

OUCH!!!!! I just read and responded about the incident. It looks horrible and ouchy. I hope the dog warden does something about this. The dog is vicious, and the owner should be held responsible for your injury. Thats not normal behavior for a dog. I know some dogs will attack other animals but they shouldn't be attacking people. Take care and Hope you feel better real soon.

I am concerned that it is still bleeding, Gabs. Are you staying off of it? What else are you doing for it? I hope you do not get an infection in that wound. Take care of yourself and take it easy.

OMG 14 hrs later if its still bleeding then I think you should go to the hospital for further treatment…this is not good Gabs that the wound is still bleeding and being kept open like that…I think you need a proper dressing and don’t lift your leg like that in this condition…the less its moved, the better I think.
No, I’ve never tried taking a pix of that part and you’ve done a good job of it!
PS: Sorry I couldn’t reply to your earlier posts, being a bit busy of late… but from what I could gather…Gissy and you had some trouble with an unmanned dog and this happened???!!!!

That's really a nasty bite gabs, really. Did they give you some good pain killers and an antibiotic? This is really such a disturbing story, and all because they didn't keep their dog leashed, and with that, come all these consequences. Very annoying because it could have been easily prevented and you wouldn't be in this situation right now. I would keep a good eye on that for infection. I'm glad they at least gave you a Tetenus shot since it's so deep. So sorry for you gabs.

That looks horrible, gabs! I know it was a deep wound but if it doesn't stop bleeding by tomorrow morning, you should go back to the hospital to have it stitched up! If it's bleeding very badly right now, I wouldn't wait another minute. I would think that it should have stopped by now. If it's only weeping a little, give it until tomorrow.
I've never tried to take a photo of the back of my leg but I did take one of the back of my head. I used a large mirror. LOL Actually, since I can see your hands and what looks like part of the camera, you used a mirror as well, right? I think that would be the only way to get a halfway decent photo.
I'm sending you good vibes to help your healing process. I hope they help! In the meantime, take it easy and don't try to overdo anything. You need rest after that horrible experience!

Sorry to hear you're in such pain, Gabs. But thank goodness, Gissi is ok. What's happened with the dog that bit you? I hate to say it, but that dog's major trouble and may need to be put down, if he/she can't be re-trained. A new owner may do better with the dog.
P.S., nice leg (except for the huge hole/bruise).

Dear gabs...what an awful shock it must have been yesterday when you ventured to the park. I hardly know what to respond. I hope you are able to take care of yourself and that your shoulder, leg, lungs get better soon. I hope Gissi is over his shock. You are so brave.

You did very well taking a picture of the back of your leg Gabs! I can see where that dog's tooth punctured your skin, it looks quite deep and nasty. Take care of it and try to keep off the leg as much as you can. Wish I was there to look after you sweetie. Hugs from me. xx

That is a very bad bite..Take care of it so it does not get infected..
The woman who owns the dog should have to pay all of your medical expenses..If she can not go out with her animal she should keep it at home..She should not be allowed to have any kind of animal..
Love to you and wishes for your leg to be well soon..

Gee, it may not be a very clear picture but you can see quite clearly how deep, bruised and sore it is! I know I am stating the obvious but it is so wrong that dogs like that are allowed to wonder around minus an owner and a lead! I do hope they get hold of the owner and penalise them for allowing their dog to do this because if he had been supervised and on a lead this would not have happened!
Take care Gabs...
