My favorite writing space used to be at my house in front of my computer, mainly because I didn't have to write by hand if I was here. I have a disability that makes writing by hand difficult. I prefer to write with other people. In fact, since I got a laptop for my birthday, one of my plans is to go to a coffee shop with an accessible bathroom and write about people all day.

My friend and I used to go to our favourite cafe once a week with our pens and paper and we would sit and write for a couple of hours over coffee and a meal!

I usually write at my desk.....but when writing poetry I usually come up with it when I am doing my cleaning! lOL.....really! I think of a line then go write it down...if I have a favorite place to write though it would be at my friends house....on her deck...where a little stream runs behind it...nature brings out the best in me.

Indeed writing in a place of peace, a place where one can be with one's thoughts and allow one to concentrate can bring on a wonderful onslaught of words and ideas for a writer. The stream is an interesting visual in this context for it probably means that nature is at the forefront in this environment. For fiction writers or poets, this would bring about many possibilities for various scenes.

It is a great idea for writers to carry some sort of writing material with them as much as possible. A pencil and a notepad can be a great tool to carry in a bag while walking around during a given day.

The one thing that I require when writing with a pen and paper is a comfy chair. When I'm home from school, I like to sit in the living room- few distractions and comfy chairs. When I'm at school, there are a few coffee shops I like to visit. The school Starbucks on "campus" recently got rid of the nice chairs and replaced them with wooden benches, which is disappointing, but there are a few around campus with nice couches.
If I'm typing then I'm not so picky.

It is extremely important, no matter where a person writes, to make sure that there is ample support for the muscles. The back must be in good posture and not only should the back be in good posture, but it is also essential that the fingers and wrists receive ample rest after extensive activity.

I love to write late at night curled up in bed. i switch the light off and the ideas start to form. eventually i give in and sit up and pour out the thoughts. it's better than chocolate!
If i'm writing to be productive then i usually perfer to work out in the garden, there is something about being in the open nature that cancels out the electronic world i feel trapped in sometimes. even looking at the rain making patterns on the windows helps! My parents garden has a nice glass topped table that years ago i revised for my exams on, great working space. I'lll even sit out with a blanket when i get cold. Daft i know!

Having a writing place near a window would seem to bring on a lot of distraction, particularly if outside the window one could view the activities of a large city or the quiet beauty of a country landscape.

It's kind of whenever and wherever for me. I like taking my notebooks on the go with me and writing in them whenever I get the chance. When I'm real serious about working on my novels, then I'll be at my computer by the window listening to my fantasy music playlist (soundtracks from Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Lady of the Water, and the like).

Writing to music has often proven to be quite effective for many writers. It helps one to sometimes think and if one is writing a piece of fiction or poetry, the music can sometimes work as a sort of inspiration or partner.

I write best sitting on my couch with a hot cup of coffee on the table next to me and my feet up. Being relaxed and comfortable helps me compose my thoughts better.

I enjoy all sorts of writing. Online, I like writing reviews for the websites Ciao and Dooyoo. I like creative writing too and usually write on Microsoft Word on my computer, as the keyboard is nice and quick if my thoughts tumble out in a hurry and much faster than my handwriting! There is a really good book with lots of ideas for writing called A Writer's Book of Days by Judy Leeves, which is excellent.
