So said Jordan Romero, aged 13. He is vthe youngest person to reach the Summit of Mt Everest. Admittedly, he was accompagnied by his father, Paul, and step-mom Karen, both accomplished climbers. And he seems well grounded in the publicity and promotional aspects of this remarkable feat - just see his slick Website - www.jordanromero.com
Of course, this all comes 4 days after 22-year old Bonita Norris of Wokingham, Berks, became the youngest ever British woman to reach the Summit.
All these achievements pale a little when set against the record of Nepalese herpa Apa who yesterday morning reched the Summit for 20th time. Apa has his own equally slick Website at www.supersherpas.com - Max Clifford could not have organised it better.

I make reference to Sherpa Apa making his twentieth ascent of Everest. Sadly, he reports that the climbs are getting more difficult each year - but not because he is getting older. He has noticed that the snow and ice covering the exposed rocks is getting less each year, most probably due to climate change. This makes it more difficult to drive in pitons and other support devices he reports.
He says he dedicated this climb to draw attention to the damage that climate change is doing to the Himalayas. He has been made the SAARC Region Goodwill Ambassador for Climate change [ see www.supersherpas.com ]

These people are making it look each to conquer Everest. I wonder if there will ever be a kid who makes up up there, riding a modified big wheel. That would be highly unlikely, yet extraordinarily awesome.
All of the sudden, I feel like trekking a moderately steep hill. I'm gonna have to pace myself before tackling bigger challenges.

I think that's awesome and that anyone who climbs the mountain is making an accomplishment. It's something that I personally think would be an incredible experience and would love to do myself one day. It's amazing that this boy has gotten to experience this at the mere age of thirteen. I think that's absolutely incredible.
