I guess majority of us have an account with facebook, but what I found from the recent news really shocked me. The fact is that facebook made money by selling our registered info to the marketing companies, so they can target us on advertising or all sort of things. It is based on the wall street journal investigations. Although you don't have to sign up with your real information on those social network, such as your address, where you actually live, or your real name etc...... They are breaking the privacy rule specified in their Terms. So, what is your opinion toward facebook with such action?

I'm not surprised at all. Facebook with all it's changes has become more and more of a privacy risk. I wonder if this has to do with the recent posts by my friends now stating to again change privacy settings on facebook due to facebook allowing other sites to use our information as well.
I'm pretty sure they are banking big bucks with all the registered user information they collect! Although its probably great for marketing...I don't appreciate being tricked into being solicited to buy things I don't want or need!

This is fact and I'm actually mad at facebook for it. The way they're getting through with the "breaking the privacy rule" is that once they started doing this, they added a section in your privacy settings to turn it off...but they did it by automatically setting it to on and not really telling any of the users that it was being added to let them know they need to turn it off if they didn't want it. I'm quite mad about it.

Really, I would have thought that you would have known that. Banks, credit card companies, utility companies, stores you have loyalty card for, etc. ALL of them sell your information and share it with their affiliates. It's perfectly legal for them to do so. That's how you get junk mail at home and marketing emails. It's all about the money and companies will do anything to earn it, they're just shy about paying it out though.

This is bad, they are making money out of our personal details. There has to be some way to stop them doing so. I think if this is authentic and we get some proof, we can take them to the court.
