I love cooking. Spices are for the food as necessary as love is for life. I usually use cinnamon and clove gillyflower.

I know that fresh it is considered to be a vegetable/herb.
However, if I want to buy garlic powder or garlic salt I find it in the spice section; not, the produce section.

It is definitely too hard to just pin down one favorite. I like spicy foods, so curry, red pepper flakes, etc., would appeal to me. I use all of the spices I think and if I haven't I am always searching for a recipe that calls upon some new and exotic spices.
A few I love are: Curry, Garlic, all spice, cinnamon, cumin, cloves, saffron, fresh oregano or mint, thyme, cilantro, ginger... I think I can go on for days on this one!!

Great question, I am actually quite fond of garlic and its healing properties. I use it a lot in many dishes that I prepare for dinner.
When I am making sweet things, I love to use cinnamon for the little bite that it provides for cookies and things.

I also love spices on my food. For me, garlic is definitely one of my favorites. Just the smell of garlic makes me so hungry and eat like there's no tomorrow. :-D.I also like turmeric especially on my rice.

Hi manousina,
I love cooking too and I use spices in my recipes to add more taste and so that it could be more healthy and also easy to digest and also as a preservative that kills harmful bacteria or prevents their growth.. In the kitchen, spices are distinguished from herbs, which are leafy, green plant parts used for flavoring. I use dried fruits or seeds, such as fennel, mustard, and black pepper. I also use Chili Powder which is made from dried chilies, usually blended with garlic, onion, cumin, oregano, chili peppers, allspice, garlic, and salt. Cumin has a penetrating musty, earthy flavor with some green, grassy nuances. Cumin is available as whole seed and ground. It is a principal ingredient in both chili powder and curry powder. There are more I use..
Thanks.
