So I just launched these forums. I though it might be fun to have a community of people in my forums. geekforums.site50.(net) I was wondering if you guys could give me some ideas and pointers! Any comments, positive or negative, are greatly appreciated. Also note, these forums just launched a few hours ago :)

If you are serious about launching these forums and gaining an active community I suggest that you purchase a custom domain name instead of hosting the forums on a subdomain. Having your forums hosted on a subdomain looks very unprofessional and that is my first impression before even viewing the site. Whereas a custom domain looks far more professional, take mylot.com for example. Which looks better: mylot.com or mylot.site50.com? I certainly know which one I would go to first. If you are serious and decide to buy a custom domain, there are a few places on the Internet that you can buy domain names from. godaddy.com generally seems to be one of the most popular and they offer very cheap rates for a multitude of domain names. I am not trying to be negative, just letting you you know the stark reality of trying to launch a forum or website on the Internet. I have been there and done that so I am speaking from past experience. Many users will take you far more seriously if you have your own custom domain name. Best of luck in getting your forums up and running with an active community!

Yes. A domain of my own would be nice. I just started the site and have not decided if I was going to purchase a domain. I most lickley will purchase one if I decide to continue with the forums. Thanks for your feedback! -BestComputerGeek

I like the layout, looks good but is still simple.
