I was a bit teary when I read the story of Ruffa Guttierez (screen artist) being battered wife from a husband from foreign land. I know that not only Ruffa did experience this but also some women too. Even they're in their homeland. But I wondered much more about the reason why they are battered by their husband? What are the other cases of women violence do you know that seems drastically increasing?

There are alot of women violence in my country (ph) , well there are many battered wives out there. Thats why there are some organizations that helps battered wives and women on their protection. There are also child molestations.

youre right brylle. It makes me feel sad. What do you think leads some offenders to do such domestic violence and child molestation?

Maybe there is one thing that leads criminals doing it, "Desperation"

I'm Canadian, and I can certainly say that violence against women are present here as well. It's sad to say, but yes it's here. I'd definitely would be lying if I said that violence against women isn't present in Canada.

Well, violence against women are all over the corner of the world not just in third world. It doesn't determine how well off is the country. It is everywhere. The only thing that we have to do is fight against it. Thank you for sharing dodo19.

I a guessing you're from the Philippines? I am too. It's sad that in some countries, religions and cultures, women are just 2nd class citizens. Men have the all the power and their ego drives them to treat their wives like slaves. In some countries where we have a lot of Filipina domestic helpers, those countries typically have the culture mentioned above. They also have the tendency to think highly of themselves, making or DHs 3rd class citizens, but since there are women DHs, they're like 4th class citizens there and they treat them like trash. That's why we get news where Filipinas get killed by their employers or they kill their employers. It's a sad sad story :(

yeah right! I'm from Philippines. Somehow you've got a point. In other countries, racism is still existing. This is really a sad story.

I am from the United States and we have battered women here as well. I was actually in a shelter for abused women when I gave birth to my younger daughter. It isn't so much that cases of abuse are increasing, but we are all becoming more aware of the problem and are working together to try and get help to those in need. Though the services definitely need to improve, they are definitely on the right path at least in regards to battered women. Sadly no services as yet exist for battered men. And I am not going to pretend to understand why a man hits a woman. All I know after a lot of therapy is that the abuse I suffered was not my fault. Abusers tend to condition their victims into believing that it is. It is not an easy conditioning to break free from.

I'm sorry to hear that yet I'm happy that you're brave to share a part of your life. And good to know that all women there are becoming more aware of the problem because that would prevent themselves to feel down. You did I hope they would too.
