What's the best way to gather referrals?

If you are planning to earn in PTC sites by merely clicking the ads, you will end-up tired of those sites, since they'll be paying you cheap. So to earn more, you need to find referrals. But how?

I think the best way is get your first payment. After that, promote the referral from email, social networking and your blog. Give the screenshot of your payment as a prove that the website is really pay.
