I am maintaining two yahoo mail accounts. The first one is about 9 years old and I used for my personal mails. The other one is for business and official mails and is three years old now. However, my youngest yahoomail account is the account that I used for facebook. I am using them both for YM too.
It's hard to be changing your account from time to time. so i maintained this so that my friends will not have difficulty in tracking me. I love my accounts and i am used to it.

i created the other account just to segregate my personal mails to those business and official mails. it's much better having both mails. i am more organize with my mails and easy to track down correspondence.

Well yes, but as for me, i don't use yahoo mail for bussiness mail since i have office mail, it is kinda hard if i need to use both yahoomail and my office mail to do bussiness relation. The bad side of this is, when i resign from that office, it will be hard for other bussiness relation that i make to contact me, since most of them might only remember my old office mail. Thanks.

Wow nine years old is really are old. The other one is pretty young, did you create the account when you get a new job or something. Also i do use other mail account for joining facebook, although i rarely use them for mailing purpose since no body know that mail account. And i agree with often changing mail will make people hard to track us down. Thanks for responding to this discussion my friend.

Well yes, usually we have more than one active mail account at one time. This is to prevent us to use our main mail account for joining site that are most likely will become a spammer. Also we some time use other mail to contact with a different group of user. Thanks.

First of all I hate Yahoo service. Some of the conformation mails from various sites that I sign up doesn't arrive to my mail box at all. I left the service years ago. But still I am left with only one mail for subscribing to some of my favorite yahoo groups as well as to keep up professional email-ID. You know when yahoo introuduced Ymail and Rocketmail domains I am one of them who signed earlier to get my name as email-ID. Gmail is much better and I use it frequently and my ymail ID is some 2 years old, up and running.

Treating a genuine mail as spam is too much. Yahoo should stop this. Till then I would consider Gmail as the better option.

Well, i don't think yahoo will stop this thing, i think it might getting worse. With so many account to manage, some e-mail that are highly suspicious as a spam will most likely they block. I think they don't want their server to be flooded by junk mail like that. At least that what i think.

I agree that many Verification mail that are sent to our yahoomaill account is rarely arrive, although some come to the spam folder, most of them just not delivered to our yahoo account since yahoomail server reject the e-mail. I think it is a double edge sword since this kind of attitude protect many yahoo user from unwanted mail. Although you could get frustated because of this since yahoo also make you cannot join a certain site.
As for me, i usually use different mail account ( a gmail account ) when i register to any site that require verification e-mail that are not work in yahoomail. Thanks for responding to this discussion.

I used my yahoo account for so long because I have actually lots of contacts with it and using my yahoo messenger with same yahoo ID itself. That's why I don't want to change it because many old friends and contacts know me through this mail address itself.

Oh yes, If you have one id for so long, people will start depend on that id. Because if you change it, people might still send message to that email address and not all of your friend will be updated about your new e-mail address. That is also the reason of why i am not changing my e-mail adress. Thanks for responding this my friend.

Well that is a very short answer, but it is really answering my question, although it is not answering the question about the story / reason why you keep that yahoo id for so long. Please share it your experience with us about why you decide to keep using that id. Or did you actually already give up using it. Thanks for responding to this discussion.

Really??? Well maybe yahoo will think that no one will use the same password for a very long time, so they decide not to mail people to change their password. Or maybe they just too lazy :p . Anyway, thanks for responding to this discussion again, sorry for the late reply.

Can't exactly say how old my yahoo id is only can give a guess. I have yahoo id for more than 3 years definitely.
I have also had 2 accounts before this, they expired because I didn't visited them for more than 90 days.
Yahoo ids are very helpful. The service of Yahoo mail is completely reliable. I have experienced no problems at all with yahoo account.

Well i know what you mean with an account being deleted after 90 days of inactive. I think i have experience that a few times. Anyway, 3 years is quite a long time, did you still use it now, or you use other mail account? I agree with you, yahoo account is realiable. Although i have experience issue with them, but it is only temporary, and at that time, no data was lost. It just missing or unaccessible for a few days. Thanks for responding this discussion my friend.

Well they actually will deleted your mail inbox if it was not active for a long time, so even if you recover your mail, all your data will be lost. At least that what happened to one of my friend account about 5 or 6 years ago. Anyway, i don't about the rules now. Thanks.

Hi. lordcaocao2025. I think that one of my yahoo accounts could be at least four years old as of now. This is to my remembrance. I have been using this Yahoo account for many years, and I have also developed many other accounts using half of this username too.

oh i see, well you actually have a few yahoo account. Did you use a lot of them, or you just create it and then let it die with time. It is hard to maintain a few e-mail account, especially from the same site since you can always login one of them at a time. Anyway thanks for the reply ( sorry if u wait too long for this since i hardly online now )

Yes, when there are many people who already know your e-mail, it iwll be hard to change it. People usually lazy to update their contact, so even if you change it, some people actually will still send mail to your old account. The same thing also apply to cell phone number.
Thanks for responding this discussion my friend.

I have a few yahoo ids, but I think my oldest one is eight or nine years old now. I do not use it as my main email account anymore but I still use it for various yahoo sites like yahoo answers and avatars. As for how I have been able to use it for so long...I really do not know. I make my passwords something that only I would know...but I can easily remember and I try to make the username as simple as possible or as "me" as possible.

Wow it is actually older than my yahoo account. Since you don't use it as your main mail account, what you actually use for you main mail account. As for me, i use yahoo as my main mail account, although for office purpose i use my office mail address. Do you use yahoo messenger software to chat, or do you not use it? Because if you use yahoo messenger then there is a big chance that you will often use the mail account. Anyway, yes, thanks for the tips for user name and password. Happy mylotting my friend.

Wow, its old man. By the way, i think it is not wise to share your mail account here ( or anywhere in the internet ). Since it will make people start spamming your mail account with many money making program, or spamming you with tricky evil mail trying to steal your id or pass. Anyway, thank and sorry for the late reply.

My yahoo account is probably more than 5 years old. I am not really sure because I didn't actually kept tracked of it. I used to have hotmail but at that time a hotmail account expires when you don't get to open it for quite a while. So, I decided to sign up for a yahoo account because of good feedback I got from some friends.

Well actually the thing that happened to your hotmail actually apply too in yahoo mail. I think i have my account deleted by yahoo and mymail become gone for being in active more then 90 days. I don't know if the rules still apply now since i almost login and check my mail every days. Anyway, thanks for responding this discussion my friend.

Hi lordcaocao2025! I have used my yahoo account for about 4 years but recently I have abandoned my yahoomail. I had been receiving so many spam messages on my yahoomail and these mails were not filtered as spam. I just got annoyed by it. I also use Yahoo messenger seldom because I still find it to be a bit laggy. I'm using skype now. Nevertheless, yahoo has served me well in the past few years and I am still using my account to bid items on yahoo auctions. Happy mylotting!

Well, i think the only reason you got many spam mail is because you showed your mail in the internet or you join many site that are really good at selling mail or doing spamming, most of them usually a making money site or an adult site. If that happened, keep using the block facility that yahoo give you, in time the spam will die. Thanks

I have had the same yahoo ID for as long as I've been using yahoo and I started using yahoo when I was pregnant with my daughter. So, that would mean that my yahoo account is about eight years old. I've never had a problem with remembering what my password is because yahoo was the first time that I was able to make a password for myself and I choose something that is very easy for me to remember. I like things simple and I choose to keep them simple.

I opened my yahoo account sometime in 1999 at our school library, and though I've had a lot of email addresses since then, this yahoo account is still my main address. I guess the mere fact that I open the account to check mails as often as I can keeps the account going. I regret, though, that in the olden days (hihihi) the memory was not so big so I had deleted a lot of old mails, and I didn't keep copies of mails.
Besides, everytime I open up an account in some other site, the sites usually ask for an e-mail address and I almost always use this old yahoo address.
