I definitely feel as though hybrid vehicles are a great value. The problem for me is that I can't afford the initial price of them. But I do know that in the long run they are so much cheaper because of how much money you end up saving on gasoline. I would get one in a heartbeat if I could afford the initial price of the vehicle. My car I have now is a gas guzzler unfortunately.

Unfortunately the govemment didn't give us the motivation to buy hybrid vehicles.

I have a problem with hybrids, electric cars, range extended and "green cars" etc. Why can't the manafacturers of these cars come up with a car design that looks like a normal car. I would love to have an electric car if it was just the same as an normal ICE car but with an electic motor. The "green cars" that are being released either look like batmobiles, golf carts are dodgem rides. The Prius gives me the feeling that i'm driving some concept experimental model and not a conventional car. Why do we need an electronic map of the drivetrain in the centre of the dash? this does absolutely nothing. Why is the handbrake on the floor with the other pedals? I imagine the Volt will have lots of little gimmicks, bells and whistles just the same. All fun to look at and play with for a few minutes but at the end of the day detracts from the overall driving experience.

I'm sure you probably get your money's worth in the long run. You have a Prius - do you really get 50 MPG on the highway? I find that CRAZY ridiculous! It must be amazing. My dad has a buddy who's been driving one, and supposedly that's what he gets. It's a little unbelievable, though, so if you could verify, that would be great. I would definitely get one, although I am NOT in the market to finance a new car. I have a 1994 Saturn. It's a compact car, so I get about 20-25 MPG (with a mix of driving on highways & city streets). So it's not bad, economically, at all. My opinion of hybrid vehicles is a great one, though! I'm happy they're coming out with cars with less carbon emissions and all that. Should I ever be able to afford to finance a car (AND have good enough credit - which may be never at this rate lol), I'll definitely consider one.
