Hi! I'm just curious. What sites did you join? I currently do mostly online academic writing jobs but I have other links on my profile which I have actually tried and it has paid me for my work. You can follow me on my blog so you can have regular updates. Just to let you know, there's nothing in this for me. I just want to help fellow writers and friends here on myLot to be able to get good online employment.
Thanks and happy myLotting!

That's the major problem. I am in freelancer.com. day by day i am amazed to see the status of work falling. People are getting paid $0.50 for 500 word articles. Just imagine!!!! I pity them who work for such meager income but they have no other choice. This in turn effects writers like us. Even the payperview sites like associated content gives return after much time. It takes too much time to build a portfolio of articles in these sites. Nevertheless, I am in love with this site...Wish there were more sites like mylot...

do agree with you.. normally when one of my friend doing freelancing she was getting around 150 Rs. that is 1.5$ for 500 words article. but now people seek writers who can write a great article in just 0.5$....

probably because these sites overcome their lucky period and so they need more money to survive!!
In this way all workers must work more and be paid less so sites can earn more and they still go on

You are 100% right that most sites pay the workers less than before. The reason is simple economic theory.
Demand for workers is less and the supply is immensely available. So the sites and the job providers exploit the workers.
Nothing can be done on this, it is inevitable.

This may have something to do with the current economic situation. More people are looking for online work, while unemployeed. So more workers after the same job means they can increase the work load and decrease the pay. As the old saying goes desperate times call for desperate measures. And the thing is these freelance groups are taking full advantage of this.

Hi, I'm also a freelancer (odesk.com)and I have to agree that most buyers/employers offer lower rates for more work and it's mainly because providers/freelancers kept on taking jobs/rates like that, especially the newbies that needed the feedbacks. If no one will bid/apply on low-rate jobs then the providers will most likely increased their payment rates just to get the work done. :(
