Acne has effects on many people, both young and old, meaning that interest in remedies and cures are on the rise. While it's true that there are several pharmaceutical remedies for acne, there are just as lots of natural remedies. Usually the natural remedies for acne are even better due to the fact they address your entire well being and boost general health. Drugs can have adverse effects and can sometimes make the condition worse. I know that honey is a wonderful salve due to its gentleness and its disinfectant and healing properties. Sulfur based soaps can also help with acne. Do you know any other remedy against acne ?

The thing that has worked the best for me for acne, blackheads, and rosacea is witchhazel. I use it once a day (usually at night) and it is the only thing that has really worked for all three of the above mentioned issues.

I found two good ways. I hope they work.. I never suffer from this problem. They are free too, that's the best bit! 1st acne cure: Baking soda, you can buy baking soda at your local groceries store. You want to make a thick paste out of the baking soda and water and rub it in to your face gently. Than rinse it off, this works as a facial scrub! 2nd acne cure: potatoes, everyone has potatoes kicking around! I want to first rinse the potato, than you want to slice the potato into slices, than wash your face with a gentle soap,I recommend (dove) After you have washed your face, start to rub the potato slices into your skin (face, shoulders, chest, back) Where ever you wish. Than let the juices soak into your skin for 15-25 minutes, than simply rinse with warm water! If you do both the baking soda&potatoes, you will not only cure your acne but you will get rid of black heads and acne scarring! Extra. Remember to wash your face with a gentle soap, I use dove for men soap, but you can use any of the dove soaps. Remember hot water opens up the pores, than freezing cold water closes them! For men: if you shave,be gentle and use a nice after shave and shaving cream with aloe!

I agree that the general well being approach is worth trying. I also believe that a general well being approach doesn't even start with any remedy, whether that remedy comes from a natural source or not. A remedy is something you use when you see the problem arise. Before it gets to that point it might be good to try prevention. A lot of acne can be caused by diet. Eating something that makes you break out. Too much sugar is one example. Before trying remedies to try and fix the acne, its best to at least try to alter your diet so that the acne never comes up. It's always best to prevent the problem if you can, rather than treating the symptoms when the problem arises.

There is a cream available called ''ultra clear acne cream'' which I bought on eBay. I have suffered with acne for years and years, and have tried everything on the market to get rid of it. Nothing had worked, so I began looking for different types of remedies. This cream has been absolutely amazing. I hardly get any new spots now, and only have the red marks left over the spots in the past (which apparently will fade with time, but I'm still waiting for that and it's been a month and a week now). It is quite costly, but I will buy another pot when this one has gone, as I am totally amazed by the way it has treated my skin.

Well, you just have to clean your face every once in a while, and when you sleep face the ceiling so your face won't get the bacteria on the pillow. Toothpaste can help too- you add salt in it to exfoliate your skin or something. And baking soda can help minimize your pores..baking soda has tons of uses..

Man, I wish I had a cure for this. I have really bad acne, and I wash my face at least two to three times a day, and I moisturize and I still have acne. I have had to buy make-up that covers up and dries up my acne just to get rid of some of it.

A light coating of plain white toothpaste applied before going to sleep will clear up any acne blemishes. You can use it on acne blemishes that are already formed or on slight discoloration or swelling of the skin where they are starting to form to prevent them from forming. Inexpensive and simple to use.

I don't think natural remedies are better. You see, we have different skin types and to do a trial-and-error of it may cause more damage than good. I think the best way to address this problem is by consulting to a dermatologist or a skin specialist. I remember when we were younger, our acne started coming out due to heredity (my father had a lot of acne and it was really in our blood), they immediately sent us to the dermatologist. We were treated and until now we no longer had those huge acnes, I would have a few pimples once in a while because of my monthly thing, but other than that it was really effective and simple. I didn't even have to take any medicines, just some routine applications before but not anymore.

I am so glad you have started this discussion as my 14 year old son has spot all over is lower chin. I have noticed all these natural remedies and give them a try,as it is so hard to get boys to do anything to help themselves.

They say that acne would go away after mid-twenties. It didn't for me. Then they said it will after you give birth. It still didn't. Anyway, here is one tomato remedy for acne. Slice up a tomato and place it on your face. Tomatoes are rich in Vitamin A that prevents overproduction of sebum that causes acne. Vitamin A also has antioxidant characteristics that refreshes and renews scarred and damaged skin.

when i was a child, long ago, in the 50's, there was a famous star named Lorretta Young. once there was a n interview in a movie mag. with her where she told why her skin was always so smooth and lovely. she said, not only did she not permit a lot of make-up on her face, but she rinsed it in luke warm water 3 or 4 times a day. and soap almost never was used on her face. this woman, when she was 70yrs, looked about 30yrs at the most. maybe even younger!

I never had acne as a teenager, but started getting it in my mid-twenties. I tried Proactiv, and just about everything else you can think of. Including going to the doctor, and what I found that actually works- drinking green tea. It has amazing antioxident properties and when I drink a glass a day, my face clears up. It's worth a try, what have you got to lose?

Honestly, if you are suffering from acne, your best bet can be to go to a dermatologist. What causes acne for one person might be different from another person. And because of this fact and the fact that we have all different types of skin, if you simply try to cure it on your own, the product you end up using could be bad for your personal skin type and make matters even worse.

Take multi-vitamins - Acne can be a sign that something is wrong on the inside. Your skin depends on nutrition. It is a vital organ that is usually neglected. If your body is not receiving the right nutrition, it will fight back. One common way it will rebel is to produce excessive sebum, clogging pores, and reducing the ability for your skin to heal and fight bacteria. Include chromium in your diet - Chromium is well known for weight loss diets. But it is also excellent for healing infections on the skin. Taking a chromium supplement once a day will help heal your pimples quickly and prevent future breakouts. Eat carrots for beta-carotene (Vitamin A) - Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and actually prevents acne. It helps reduce sebum production. This vitamin is essential for the maintenance and repair of the tissue which the skin and mucous membranes are made of. Vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant needed to rid your body of toxins. A deficiency in vitamin A can actually cause acne.
