Today one of the neighbor's dog was beaten to death by another angry neighbor. Friends remember the dog I told you about in one of my discussions? The one who went on charging me and my dog and its owner just watched? This is the dog that got beaten down by another neighbor. Okay before any violent reactions arise let me tell you what happened.
The owner of the dog is really irresponsible. He has 4 dogs all in all. All are rugged and rough. They are never given a bath and the dogs are very aggressive. This owner would just leave his gate open and allow the dogs to roam around in the neighborhood. You cannot walk around my neighborhood without being attacked by these dogs. I have been attacked by these dogs several times that's why I bring a wooden stick or anything to ward them off when I walk my dog.
Anyway today one of those dog died it was beaten to death by an angry neighbor who got attacked when he was just walking down the street. The dog nearly bit him and he was able to escaped its teeth narrowly. After the incident he came back and brought a club and beat the dog until it died. It was horrifying. We have never had such violence in our neighborhood up until today.
The dog owner said he will file charges against the guy who beat his dog to death. But the other guy said that he would find negligence as well as public endangerment against the owner of the dog. Now its a heated battle. But I doubt the owner would ever win because just a few weeks ago I filed a written complain against him in our local government office and reported the incident to the city vet. He is the one to be jailed and penalized for being so negligent as a pet owner.

Ohhh, poor dog. Still the neighbors don't have the right to kill the dog in that way or any other way. We must remember that dogs are not like humans who can think of good ways. They are still animals, whatever the dog do, he must be taken care of some people who have care enough to take care of dogs. The dog should confiscate from the owner and bring to some dog welfare.

Yes that is right, but if the authorities will not do anything then who is going to? I think in this case the owner should have been arrested, jailed and his animals taken and placed where they would be taken care of unless they were too wild then they need to be put down.

Those dogs are only victim of irresponsible bad owner. They should be save from them. I know if they will be taken care of good people they will tame. Needs a little patience only.

In truth i think both of these men where wrong. One should be caring for his pets better and making sure they are not hurting anyone. The other should not have gone back to beat the dog but gone to the authorities. If it had happened while he was being attacked it would have been self defense and understandable but to go back to find the dog and beat it is disturbing as it shows a horrible temperament and I would steer clear of him as well.

This is bad. I wish that there was something that I could do or say that would make this easier but there is not. So I will just say what is on my mind about this. The dog owner is a cad! Allowing the animals to run wild like that is inviting what happened. The owner should be arrested, Jailed and the animals taken and placed in homes where they are appreciated. Or if they are too wild they should be put down in a humane way. Beating is never a way to die. The one doing the beating should be flogged.

Hi Candyfairy,
What a sad sad story. The dogs are the way they are because of the owner. I understand the man who beat this dog was probably just tired of not being able to walk in the neighborhood without be attacked by these dogs but I really think that there must have been a better solution. It sounds as if this has been going on for a while. It is good that you reported an incident a few weeks ago. I think though that a group effort and reporting of each incident as it occured would have gotten the city to respond or at least it should have. The dog owner should have been fined and if he continued to let his dogs roam free then they should have been taken from him. It should not have gone on long enough to reach the point that it did.

Although I hate the fact that the man was attacked by the dog, I really feel sorry for the dog. The reason that I feel this way is that the dog never really knew any better, it hadn't been taught right from wrong and that is the reason that it was constantly attacking people. What it really needed was to have been taken away from his irresponsible owner and rehabilitated such that it would not have been causing so much havoc in the neighborhood. You are absolutely correct though, it will be the owner that gets in trouble, not the person that retaliated against the dog.

Oh he's really an irresponsible crap! Good thing that you filed charges. He should know by this time that it's his fault. The nerve and he's the one who filed charges to the other neighbor. What was really a horrifying act was when the dog was beaten. Well it's like a karma on the owner's part but the one who suffer is his dog.

Oh my goodness, what is going on in the world today? These people and their dogs, and their stupid negligence is getting out of control. I'm sure the owner of the dog will be reprimanded on this situation, it's horrible. And they KNOW their dogs are nasty, but they still let them roam about. Are they crazy?
I have another friend here on myLot, named Gabs, don't know if you know her but here's a link to her discussion in case you care to read it.
...........http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2320395.aspxdiscussion......
and it's about a dog who attacked her and her little dog while she was walking with her friend. And there are 2 other followup discussions she wrote about on this, and you wouldn't believe what's happening to her now, the woman is trying to blame her for the nasty dog attacking her. It's nut, completely crazy!
People just don't care about no one else but themselves today, and screw everyone else along the way..so sad.

Once you take the responsibility of rearing a dog you should stand by your duty, the dog has never asked to be adopted but we go to the dog to get it at our place and it becomes a duty of care toward the dog, dogs should be educated like children, they need attention and not scolding, their duty is to protect their owner and the house and if ever the dog has beaten someone then the owner is negligent because he should have the dog is the yard itself, one the dog has been beaten! Such an evil act, I feel despise for the people who do these acts, how can someone beat an animal like this, the poor animal does not talk and people take so much advantage for that. I would say that the owner is to be penalize and not the poor dog.

I feel for the dog but I also feel for the man that had to beat the dog. I would venture to say that the man that had to beat the dog, no more wanted to kill an animal than anything but with feeling threatened he had to do something. Aggressive, untrained dogs are a nusance to have around. Hopefully the owner of these dogs will think again about his other pets and gain a little more control over them.

The very say thing here is that those dogs were only violent because their owner was irresponsible and neglectful. I can't stand animal abuse and I hate to see dogs mistreated. It's horrible when dogs turn bad because of their owner. I think each dog has a right to a happy healthy life. I do hope that owner gets punished and that his other dogs get taken away to be rehabilitated and hopefully sent on to better homes.
