They never change the music at my job

I work in a grocery store and everyday i work,it is the same music. The same songs they have allready played a million billion times it seems. They use cd's,not satallite radio. The highest ranked store manager chooses the music and he is around 60 and very un-hip by nature.Totally the all business and all work and no play type. The total music compilation is spread onto 2 cd's,maybe,MAYBE 3,at the most.
Every song they play i've allready heard so many times.I started there in november of last year and i am extremely seriously contemplating either a transfer to another affiliated town or a switch alltogether in companies.
From a technical humanistic standpoint,They urgently need to update the music.
As crazy as this sounds,I truly feel that this feels like cruel and unusual punishment from a mental standpoint. And being that i consider myself spiritual,it is also punishing from a spiritual standpoint.I Really feel annoyed very often with the redundance and monotony. It just feels very unfair that only the top level manager has all the say in what they play. There is so much other music out there and another thing is that i will conclude that many would say to me,"Well, you work there and you're there to do a job and not to enjoy music, and you should be appreciative that you have a job",and to that i say,...
Yes,i AM there to do a job and i do my job as well as it can be done.I work very hard and i consider myself to be one of the more dedicated and diligent of employees. And yes,i am appreciative and thankfull to have a job..But..Fact remains that i am an actual real human being with a brain that tends to reject understimulation and that is one of the side effects of music redundance.Under-Stimulation of the brain, and obviously,a sapping effect of the endorphins and dopomine agents of the brain. So,in conclusion,More variety of music for an eclectically musically inclined mind such as mine equals Much better mood and much higher levels of spiritual and thought enlightenment which equals "Just simply a better all around employee".
The redundance and monotony of the same old 25-30 songs is a droidfull approach.
It is brain numbing, depressing, annoying, agitating, and counter-productive to creating a positive energy derived employee.Positive energy is productive and treating employees fairly by varying the music would be such a huge difference. When the lower ranking manager steve was in charge for a week for the vacationing jack, the music was profoundly better. There was so much more variety and thus, created such a better energy and positive vibe amongst employees with more expanded forms of eclectized musical taste.

I used to work at Home Depot and they did the same thing, but they chose their music based on a bunch of things, like the type of people that would come into the store, the appropriateness of the songs, and whether they could get the license to play them in the store. A couple months before I started working there they did a survey for all of the customers that would come into the store asking what kind of music they liked to listen to and what their favorite songs at the moment were. This drastically changed the music that was playing. A suggestion I have is maybe get a few of your friends or some customers to complain about the music or suggest in an anonymous letter to your boss that there should be a change in the music and suggest the survey technique. No company will play music that the customers dont like so the survey idea is a great way to ensure that there is newer music and music that wont upset the customers so both parties are happy. Another good suggestion is to suggest some sort of action with your store managers boss, perhaps a regional manager. Just things i know have worked in the past, hope it helps :)

See what's interesting is that at my old work we always had the same music playing too and it would play multiple times a day. But we had the radio on. It's just that the radio station tends to rotate the same playlist over and over throughout the day every day. If you are hearing the same songs over and over and it is controlled within your office, maybe you could talk to someone about adding in some new things?

Have you tried talking the store manager that chooses the music? I am sure that if you were to explain how you feel you could possibly come up with a way to make both of you happy.

Hi your situation is really peculiar. I do understand how you must be feeling about this issue. I for one couldn't stand such a situation. It is really boring anyway. I think there is something you and your fellow workers could do to stop this. You could talk to senior management about this issue and let them know how you feel about it all. I believe that will help.
