Do You Ever Hesitate To Be The First Responder To A discussion?

The reason I ask this question is earlier I saw a discussion I wanted to reply to but left it a while before replying. Don't know why but for some reason I was hesitant and yet new user no problem straight in to welcome etc and respond. So do you hesitate at times and wait a while. Is it to do with frame of mind at time or depth of discussion. Thoughts please. Huggles Ellie :D

It depends on the discussion. Some that I have a good feeling that they're likely to get deleted, I obviously don't respond to. If I hesitate on responding to a discussion though, most likely it's because I don't really know what to say. Often I'll be able to go back later and provide a good response to it, but sometimes I'm just not able to immediately.

Hi, Jaluke, well congratulations on being the first response here lol. I think the ones I hesitate on are the ones where I need time to think about response whereas a what your favourite type oneis easy to do, also it depends on time available as I like to give a well thought out response rather than just a reply if that makes sense. Oh I never hesitate to be the first responder, in fact I prefer it to be the first. This way I know what I have to say is not already said. I don't like having to read all the responses especially if there are many so I don't repeat what has already been said.. Being the first means not having to skip that post because what I would have said was already said..

Oh no problem ellie, I make spelling mistake quite a lot myself..:) Maybe the post you read is not one where you know what to say..I skip those quite a lot and sometimes I go back and respond after a few have responded..

well, i'm not sure if you earn more by being the first to respond what i've gathered is that we all get earnings regardless of where we respond in the discussion. but i'm really unsure about the details..
Huggles to you too!

I actually prefer to be the first responder. It means that I can convey my thoughts without being distracted by the responses from other users.
Everyone is different and I guess some could find it intimidating by having the first response and being the first response to be criticized or in the "line of fire.

Some times, I will read it and know that I want to respond, but leave it and ponder what I need to say, give me time to think aobut the situation before I jump right in, I understand that I am suppose to also, look over the responses before I go to typing. I don't think that is right. wwhen you resspond it should bee off the top of your head, what you feel, not what some one else says, yes some times you may say aboutthe same as some one else, but it is how I feel about a topic. Sometimes it takes me awhile to think about the topic and what I really want to say. Don't know if I make sense or not too early in the morning and I havent' had my coffee yet.

Hi ellie,
It don't matter to me sooo much but it really depends on my frame of mind at the time, if the discussion is intereting, then I would respond straight away, if not I will leave it for a while and then go respond to it. Love and hugs.

Hi Tamrara, Yep you got it in one, it is the frame of mind you are in when reading the discussion and so yes some you do have to go back to. Most of the time I just jump straight in with a response but on occassion hesisitate for this exact reason. Huggles. Ellie :D

No if I see something that I want to reply to, I just do it without really thinking about it. I don't tend to notice how many other people have replied anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
If something interests me, why should I wait for someone else to post first? If we all did that, nobody would ever post at all!

Hey hi. No i don't hesitate before responding to a discussion, i just response what i feel and comes to my mind.
As i only response to the discussions which are from my interests so there is no problem in relating to the stuff.
I think being first to respond a discussion gives a whole new route to the discussion, it is the root as from the very response only the real discussion starts.

I only get hesitant on posting something when I have something in mind that I have to organize first before posting. This usually happens on topics I really like. Because of many thoughts/ideas in my mind, I'm afraid to not post all of it. So as much as I want to post something, I can't.

Well a big warm welcome to myLot then Chakee and thank you for choosing to answere one of my discussions. It makes sense for you to be hesitant so early on , I think I was but now I just respond immediately most of the time but now and again I will hesitate if I feel I need to think more indepth about my response as it could be a serious subject. Have fun here and I hope you enjoy making lots of new friends too. Huggles. Ellie :D

Sometimes I hesitate to be the first to respond if I don’t fully understand what the discussion starter is getting at or if he or she is after a brilliant or particularly amusing response and I feel too self conscious to be the first to reply . It doesn’t happen all that often and nine times out of ten I don’t have a problem being the first; it’s just sometimes...

Sometimes it seems scary to be there first because it is of course the first thing that gets read by the author and anyone who comes to read the threads. So there's some sort of pressure but in my case, I don't seem to mind. I have also seen other people rejoice over the fact that they were the first to answer. It's like they are racing to be the first!
As long as I have a thing to contribute, I don't hesitate on my answer.

yes,ellie!
i have had this experience sometimes i just don't want to be the first to respond on topics i really am confused. there were really topics that are confusing or should i say i would like to read more of other member's thoughts before responding my own. well, things that interest me sometimes i just would like to learn more of other's point of views and opinions regarding that matter. i guess there's nothing wrong with hesitations at times right?

Hi Annavi, Glad I am not the only one then, ys at times hesitation can be a good thing especially if the topic could be confused as we have so many people from all over the world hear that word thing differently and read them in a different way. I think this is what makes the lot such a great place to be. Huggles Ellie :D

Yes and actually sometimes i'm hesitating whether to respond in discussions even if there are alot of people posted their opinions already. because i'm afraid that no one will respond in that particular discussion anymore. it's hard to explain. but yeah. i do hesitate a lot of times :)

Hi Chuacx, Wll I for one will always respond to anyone that has taken the time to respond to a discussion that I have posted. It is very rare that I do hesitate but just on occassion I sometimes do, perhaps if I feel that a more indepth answer is required than I have time to give at that moment and will go back to it.
