Do you collect coke caps?

People I work with often look at me funny because I'll take an empty coke bottle out of the trash, take the cap off and put it in my pocket.
I cash in the coke rewards for things like free magazine subscriptions that I can't afford to pay for right now.
A lot of people throw away coke caps and I'm always digging them out of trash cans or picking them up off the ground.
Do you collect the coke codes too? Have you ever taken them out of the trash? Does that make me weird?

I was on Coke Rewards for about a year. I generally don't drink very much Coke - but I accumulated 200 points (which I never spent.. lol. Couldn't find any magazines that actually caught my interest). Anyway, I pretty much gave up on it. Now, I give all the Coke caps I don't use to my co-worker, who does the Coke Rewards thing HARDCORE. It's a good idea, too, in my opinion, to have multiple people saving them for you. I'm sure the points add up quickly that way.

You can also cash in for free cokes for cheaper points but I guess if you don't really like coke products thats useless too. -grin-

I do collect my coke rewards. And I have people all over my office saving them for me. So usually digging though the trash is not necessary because they bring them to me in ziploc baggies. But we do have one person that comes and fill the drink machine in our mail room and she is always throwing away the big packs. So I do occassionally grab that out of the trash when I see it. Hey I'm not to proud to say that the coke rewards have some pretty cool free gifts. I have gotten free drinks, digital binoculars, FTD flowers, ebags certificates and some other stuff from them. It is a shame to let those caps go unclaimed.

How nice that they hold them for you. Despite the fact that EVERYONE at work knows I do the coke rewards they still toss those caps in the garbage!

I collect coke caps before if they're having promos like the one you mentioned. But I don't drink too much coke nowadays. And here in our country coke currently has no promos.

I have collected coke tops for about a year and a half. And yes i have got them out of the trash and the ground. I know what you mean about the funny look because i have received many stares and giggles, but it doesnt bother me. I have cashed in my coke points for magazine subscriptions,$50 nike gift cards, collages posters from snapfish, and free tokens from chuckie cheese. I think if more people realized how easy it is to get the points and get cool prizes there would not be so many in the trash in the first place. So to say the least I dont think your weird at all.

I used to collect them, but last summer I was unable to get online because I moved and was super busy and after three months they rest my points. I had HUNDREDS saved up and so it just kind of discouraged me and I don't collect them any more because of that. It made me feel like I wasted a lot of time because of how many I lost when it reset them.

I used to collect them, because I used to go to clean houses with my mom and the pplz that she cleaned pretty much bought boxes and cases of coke and sprite and all that, and I used to get the codes, even from the trash too...lol.
But now as I dont work with my mom no more, I dont do that anymore.

I work with a woman who collect pop cans of anykind. She goes through all the resident's garbage's and recycling boxes to collect them, I sometimes even bring her grocery bags full of them as well but only once in awhile because I find it takes up space if I were to do that all the time plus lugging it to work too.
She collects these pop cans so she can take them into a place where they can cash them in to buy wheelchairs for sick children.
I would wait until nobody was around then go into the trash.
Take care

I don't think it's weird. I wish they'd stop zapping your points after a certain period of time, it makes it hard for me to save up the points, lol.

Many people love to collect things for fun, as a hobby or for money. All of these three are the main reasons why people collect anything worthwhile. I do not see anything wrong about collecting coke caps or aluminum can stubs, if its fun doing it, or because its worth something then is cool for me. I too have collected some caps ot can stubs just for fun or hobby thing. By the way it is a form of helping mother earth get rid of her trash through recycling. Did you know that when you collect those simple plastic caps or aluminum can stubs you are reducing non-biodegradable trash. we all know that these causes some clogging along sewers and drainage ditches limiting the flow of waste water which in turn clogs up the floods will occur during rainy seasons. So we must not laugh or pester people who dig out trash cans nor pick up some caps or something on the streets because we don't know whats the value of those to them. We should be more thankful they are helping mother earth get rid of some of its wastes. Besides, there is a saying "There's money among the garbage", those simple caps or aluminum stubs can be worth millions of money in huge quantities and can yield rewards like what nonersays. So instead of throwing away those simple caps, why not collect them recycle or exchange them into money or rewards and help mother earth reduce the burdens of our wastes. Chill to all mylotters and God bless.

Yes I am collecting coke caps only in my house
when there are available of it. It can be use
for anything like circles for sounds during
fiesta and it can be made as rags when hammered
to the plain wood. It can be sold also as per
kilo here in Phil. as low as .50centavos per
kilo. But I did not dig in the trash can I am
a shy in that way. But it is also good for you
as you have a target for having the subscription
or rewards. There's nothing wrong with it.

It doesn't make you look weird. It makes you look like a beggar. There's nothing wrong though about collecting it. I think it's very resourceful of you doing it. You use those coke caps to buy stuff that money can buy.
