Okay, I enjoy fashion as much as most women, or at least I think I do, however, the prices can be quite ridiculous when you are looking for something that does have a designer name on it.
Well, I took a stand a long time ago and have decided that my way of fashion and shopping sense works pretty well. I wait until someone tires of something and then locate it in a Thrift Shop. I have found some fabulous deals. I must say the best find was an Italian purse that cost $3,000 online, I paid $1.00 for it. Is that a steal or What?!
Another time, I found a pair of cute sandals, in the store they were well over $400 I managed to get them for .25 cents.
Have you ever gotten bargains like these? What was your best find?

Oh yes, definately, I love bargains, vintage items and thrift shopping.
I have gotten a genuine Moschino bag for less than $1, a Burberry trench (brand new!!) for around $10 and several silk scarves for almost nothing. Those are my best buys I think, but I have many other stories as well.
I simply love finding stuff like that!
What brand was the Italian purse you found, if I may ask?

Wow, sounds like you found a lot of really fun stuff. That is amazing. I guess if I took a little more time and really worked at it, I bet I would be able to find additional name brand items. lol.
I would have to look it up again, I can't remember, it was a company similar to Gucci. I think it began with a C, but, can't remember for sure.

Oh, no, I must agree with you, less competition is always nice when it comes to clothing. I really get a kick out of all the accessories that you can also find too. It is so fascinating to me, how many people will go out and spend as much as they do on clothing and such and then decide they are done with it. Heck, I think if I spent half of what some of these people spend, I would probably be hording stuff at this point. In fact, I'm glad that I don't.

Yes, you can really find almost all designers if you just look hard enough, it is amazing that people don't really know this! (But good for me on the other hand, since there is less competition for the stuff this way, so I am really not complaining, don't get me wrong!)

While I respect the art and composition that designers put out, I think it completely ludicrous to spend that much money on one article of clothing. Or handbag. Or pair of shoes. $600 for a pair of pumps?! That's criminally stupid! That's my house note PLUS electricity! I won't even go out of my way to find knock offs or out of season pieces. Instead, I upcycle pieces I already own. For instance, an over-sized t-shirt I used to sleep in I rework into a purse. Or take old ties and make a tube top out of them. They're original (kinda) and people always ask where I get them.
Huh. Maybe I should be a designer. ;-)

Thanks for your response. I would never pay the prices that many people spend. I find it amazing that all of these designers will throw the type of price tags that they do on clothing.
Once in a while, more out of curiosity, I will try and locate the different items, like the Italian Handbag just to see how stupid someone was when they purchased the item. I walk away laughing at stuff like that.
I thought that this would be an interesting discussion to start to see what kind of responses I would get on it.
Love the ideas that you threw out their for the ties and t-shirts. I was actually thinking of creating some cute dresses for my nieces using a t-shirt as a base. I found a bunch of bright color tees that would work great at a dollar store. I also have a ton of fabric that I can use to create to skirt on them and such.
The ties that you were talking about, that would certainly add a cute element to the dress idea for the little girls. OOOO can you see the smoke from there?
