How to choose an engagement ring?

Before we get satrted, can I be honest with ou? If you want to buy an engagemnet ring for her, certainly you hope can choose the one she'll love,the best way is to let her pick it out. She wear the ring everyday. It must suit her style.
BUt may be you want to surprise her with the engagemnet ring,or because you don't want her to be involved in pricing.
So, if you want to buy an engagement ring for her. What will you pay attention to ?
And what will you do?

This is depend upon elder person not our own choice. All things are consider like cost, carret, good etc.

For us elders select as we mostly have arranged marriage , but for other country people they spend for themselves and select their rings i guess.

This is one issue a guy should worry about. I am a girl and I don't have to worry about this. My husband and I went together to get my engagement ring. I think it will be surprising to give the girl chosen by you. It is a special feeling that the girl sees the ring only at the time you present. But, you should also consider the fact that she likes the ring because she is the person who is going to use it.
It is better to keept the bill or receipt of the ring and ecourage her to change if she wants a replacement. I think most of the girls like to keep the one chosen by her guy because they will be proud to keep the one the guy likes than the one she likes. In my case, I didn't get the one which my husband liked very much. I got the one which both of us liked. But, that was not my husband's first choice.

Honestly elders choose the ring for us here but this is not the case in most of the countries i guess. The girl and the boy choose their ring according to their budget. As they pay for their marriage.
