Do we have an Immortal soul?

Do u believe that we do? That death is just a beginning of our immortal life? I have a question for all the believers-if we possess am immortal soul after death, why do humans fear death? Why does death give an impression of existence wiped out? Why should we strive so hard to live, when by dying we can have eternal life and can posses powers beyond normal (i.e.,a dead person's soul can harm or help the living). Why is death still a misery? As per Bible, God punished man saying if they ate the fruit, they will die, which is a result of their disobedience, Gen 3:16-19 " for dust you are and to dust you will return". Would that mean that God didn't really punish Adam and eve with death, when he said he would and opened up some new way after death, which isn't a punishment at all?? What are your views?

Excuse me for asking this but are you a Fundamentalist? The creation story was in Babylonian legends before it entered Genesis. I ask in all humility as I do not know where you are coming from and I have just checked your profile and discussions and have found them very interesting. I can give you a better answer if I know your beliefs. Please forgive me if I offended you - I mean no disrespect. Blessings

The Island is under a State of Emergency and I am a bit fragmented still, although the hostilities are decreasing. I apologise for taking so long to answer. I am a Catholic Christian. I will be on vacation from next week - am telling you this in case you start a discussion and think that I am not responding because of our religious differences. Many blessings!
