yes, reviews always help us to know what is the movie about and is it good or not, but I just can't find a review of the movie on your avatar :)

I very seldom read the reviews. The trailers and word of mouth are what make me want to see a movie. Since I sort of march to a different drummer, I don't care what others think because I know my tastes. I've had some "critics" give bad reviews to movies I ended up liking. Now days I might read a review if there is controversy behind it.

I agree. They are fake. That reminds me of when I saw the Pirates of the Caribbean (2 or 3) trailer. The scene was Jack Sparrow being cooked by the natives. Then he gets away and the little native girl is sad. But in the movie it was different. So I see what you mean. I guess if you're used to the reviewer then his reviews would be true. I've never met a reviewer who does that for me though. If a reviewer is not into science fiction, it will be hard for him to give a good review like one who does like science fiction. So I'll pass on the reviewers.

yes, one moview reviewer must really know how to write a review and how to stay objective, because he must not put any personal opinion to the review in order not to make it fake, because review is one and criticism is something else!

well, I have never watched any trailers, because they are "fake movies" to me0- they don't show the movie as it is, they try to show it as a real good one, even it isn't. that's why i prefer to read the review, because there is written what it is and it is all true the most of the time!

Hi,
Yup, sometimes I read some reviews about the movie, but it does not really help me. As I have ever experienced, at one time I was interested in watching a movie just because a review of the highlights of the film. But in fact, what I found when watching the film was not as interesting as what I read from reviews. It's quite disturbing my comfort.
Nice day

yeah, guess you are right. i still read the review, but now i prefer to see the trailer, because i can see a part of the movie( even if it's 2 min. long) and I can actually have something in my head what is all about. because sometimes as many other say, the movie might be good for the person who wrote the review, but a boring one for the one who reads it :)

Hallo, phoenix!
Yes, I read the reviews and comments. But my decision to watch the move doesn't depends on them. I know that they are the viewpoints of others and it is not necessarily my opinion be like them.
A few days ago I saw a movie with many positive reviews, but for me it was just a theater with dull dialogues. Sometimes it is opposite - a film that is at the bottom of the ranking is very interesting and edifying for me.
I read the reviews in advance because I'm curious if my opinion coincides with that of other people in the end of the movie. And I don't feel embarrassed if it is not.

hello there, myFlower!
yes, i know what you mean- sometimes the review makes the movie seems much better than it really is, just because the review is as you already mentioned the viewpoint of another person, who actually has much more different taste for movies :) BTW i hope you enjoy MYLOT and have a good time here

Movie reviews had helped me to confirm some thoughts about movies i will be watching and i thought they were badly made. I have spent little time reading reviews and I have saved much more time because i missed the movies with bad reviews. Every review with very agressive attitude to the film easily makes me not watching him.

I do not read reviews for each and every movie.I watch movies based on who is acting in it and who is directing it.Some times movies which carry good reviews do not fare well commercially.Where as some times the movies which do not carry many stars in reviews do well at the box office.Usually the word of mouth does carry well the popularity or otherwise of a movie.

well, I also guess that good actors take roles in good movies but it is only a cliche because there are many movies with good actors which really don't worth a thing!

I love to read movie reviews. if i am undecided about a film, the review may just be the clincher. I do try to use my own judgment first in movies. If it looks interesting to me, I will see it no matter what kind of review it gets. I like to compare the movie review with my own experience,

well, there is no way to be interesting to you if you don't know what is all about- I mean that you must see something from the movie to know is it good or not :) well, sometimes people guide themselves only by the title but it is comletely wrong, becaues tehre are so stupid movies with good titles!

I usually read the review, but I don't always agree with it. I have seen movies that the reviewers hated that I liked and vice versa. The reviews never influence me on what to see or what not so I am not even sure why I read them.
@phoenix8606 (4942)
•

well, by me it is the "vice versa" because I watch only movies that I think are good because of the reviews that i have read about them :)

~ Hi phoenix! Yes, I read the movie reviews each time I want to download some movie, because I must to know what is the movie all about and would it be a interesting one or not, because there is no sense to download it if it doesn't worth to be watched~

no i dint spend times to read review .. its not good to read review... different people have different taste and different thoughts so we can judge their review as a best or worst ... so i just watch the movie and enjoy.. i dont look for others opinion

well, i don't think that the common movie reviews represent someones opinion about the movie, they just tell us the story in some short lines so that we can know what is all about i basics. that's why i think reviews are good!

Hello!!!
For a movie buff like me, movie reviews do matter to me. They serve as guidelines to movies I want to watch and this helps me avoid spending money on not worth watching movies. I have realized that if a movie features a well-known actor/actress, it doesn't mean that the movie is fantastic. Sometimes, there are those that are too boring and very disappointing. Although movie reviews differ, I decide to watch movies according to the general view of those who had given their reviews regarding a particular movie. I don't only read reviews before watching a film but also after watching a film. I also check on their ratings.

well, the characters/actors have nothing to do with good movies and sometimes the directors even asks some famous actors to take part in the movie to make more people watch it because it is some crap!

well, why do you buy/rent movies when you have internet!? for an example- yesterday I have watched AVATAR for the very first time, just because I have waited for it to be available with some DVD-RIP quality, because I haven't got money to spend for it at the cinema or to rent/buy it :)

Hey phoenix! I don't pay any attention to reviews even if I happen
to hear them! I don't listen to anyone to begin with pretty much
about anything so why should movies be any different!lol I see
whatever I want and sometimes more of whatever I don't want
because my boyfriend brings home the goriest and most violent
and moronic DVD's anyone could fine! I am so not into chainsaw
murders, horror movies, gang war movies, and he brings them
all home to watch! Once in awhile I will watch one by accident
and they actually have a story to them! But, if I want to see a
"real movie" I have to tell him to bring it home, like "Precious"!
That was a great movie! We usually wait for them to get on DVD's
because it is so expensive to go to the theatres here! I want
to see Alice in Wonderland so I am waiting for that one!

well, I read the reviews in order to know does the movie really worth or not, because I am from that kind of persons, who don't like wasting time with movies that don't worth the time. but as you have mentioned, I guess that me and your bf have something that is the same- I also like some horror movie :) but recently there are no good ones. I will try to find the " Preicious" one and hope i will. I really like when people recommend me some good movies, that i haven't watched yet, because it is really hard to find good movies nowadays!

Yes! I read them! Whenever i'm renting movies, i take a quick peek at the back of the casing to read some of the previews and reviews of the movie and see whether it's ok or i'll just waste money on it. :)

well, for me it is never a waset of money just because I don't buy or rent movies since many years alerady- and why should I when there are so many torrent reactors available :) yes, the reviws really help us to know what is the movie about and sometimes as you say to save some money!

Most of the time I read movie reviews. Since there are a lot of movie to watch I like to be certain that the movie I will watch is worth my time and money. Filmcritics, IMDB, Rotten tomatoes and yahoo movies are my sites when I need to read movie reviews Although not all the times you will agree with the reviewer but most of the time it can really help in choosing the right movie to watch.

well, I don't use any Foreign sites to read movie reviews because here there are three torrent reactor sites in my language and I can erad them too, but it is still good to know that there are some other site like the ones you have mentioned so that you can compare the info!

Yep. Many times I read a review or ask those who have watched that movies. It really helps you to judge a movie before watching it and wasting your time as well as money. But sometimes you get bluffed too. Because each person's perception is different. So many time a movie liked by the critic or your friend's may not be liked by you and you will feel as if they have bluffed you. But still its a good ideal to get reviews before you watch a movie.

yes, that's why i prefer to read the review, because it is objective and it tells the movie the way it is, because if you listen to some friend of yours you can be mistaken because everyone sees it in another way!

yes, I also read them too because that's the way how i know that one movie is really good and some other doesn't actually worth to be watched and it is just a waste of time!
