Yeah really dude.. Atleast in my life, for sure. Daily i get cribbing from my family that i am spending all my time with system. Well, thinking from my angle, its my job,my profession, i have to complete my works and excel in life.. What you said is completely a fact. I have become one of its slave!. Daily i sit with the PC for all the time except when i go for having breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks or the restroom and yeah ofcourse - 5 to 6 hours of sleep .. for sure... that comes around more than 16 hours per day.. Wow thats a calculation on the fly..

Computers are hardly making us into slaves. We as a society are growing more technological in our communications and methods of travel and survival. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. Where once it would have taken half a year to contact some family members (if you were able to at all) now all you have to do is log onto a computer and send an email. And when holidays come around everyone can board an airplane to gather with the family. Airplanes being controlled by none other then the computer. People are to quick to judge the technology in my opinion and attempt to redirect the responsibility of the user.

I get your point but I see the computer as a form of communication with the rest of the world. And communication in today's society is key of survival. But I do believe that with the websites out there and the different types of things than one can do on the computer makes it really addicting and perhaps thats why we grow so fond of it. Right now I use the computer as my only form of communication with my friends so its very important to me to be online everyday... sad but true!

I couldn't agree more, the internet has taken over my life i find myself so addicted to facebook i am on it all night and the hours fly by like and i am already a year older and cant get up for college the next day and it is endless cycle. i communicate with all my friends on the net instead of socialising as much but we are in recession so not a lot of money to go out with so it can be a life saver at times!!

Internet and this virtual world is slowly invading our private lives. My sister told me once that her employer and his wife always have quarrel because every time the husband go home. He will directly go to the computer and surf the net. Mostly he watch free movies on line and play some online games. His wife always complain about it. He does have no time for the children anymore, no time for the wife and sometimes no time for himself. The internet is killing the family's love and harmony slowly and it will be hard to stop it. I'm afraid it is already happening.

not only the computer. but the worst is the cell phone. i see everyone in the street or anywhere just staring with his/her cell without making any contact even only eye contact with the people near her/him. i guess it is good for the world to make one day without electronic stuffs

I really do feel like the electronic age is taking away from the quality time that we used to spend with our families. However, I also know that as our children are getting a little bit older, we are trying to make a conscious effort to do more things that are off the grid with our family. Last month we just decided spur of the moment that we were going to go for a hike. This weekend being a holiday weekend, I am taking the children strawberry picking on Saturday and then on Sunday we are traveling to a railroad museum where we will be taking a train ride with our family. Yes, I can remember the times that we all do something as a family.

I don't think computer taking me away from my dearest because I don't do it the whole day. I just do it few hour a day and likely sometimes we chat while I am on computer so I am not to secluded. We are busy family and every one have obligation and their own activity, so while other busy I can go online.

Anything in the world has two sides. Just some hours before I replied to a post regarding facebook helps us in reuniting friends and relatives. Now this is exactly the opposite of that post. You need to decide how much time you should sit on the PC. If you don't have that control, you are lost and the case can happen as you mentioned. But keeping a balance in both, you can look after your kins and work as well. Try doing this and then you will be in a good position.

whoa.. That's seems to be serious with you.. Nah, I don't think the computer is taking us far away from our love ones. It is us who makes the decision whether to connect with the ones around us or the ones in the electronical world. In fact the electronical media was built ever more just to let us connect with whomever that have access on the internet regardless of the distance as well as the fees.

I totally agree with you. The computer does take away a lot of our time to do more human things (like sports, outing, going out with family and friends). However, for people who are working overseas this is their only way to communicate with their loved ones. It really is a double-edged sword. People just have to use the computer and live their life wisely. :)

yeh you have given quuite a good reason cause some of the overseas people need to communicate .with their loved ones also soldiers those are living .overses but specifically i made this topic for people like us ..........who share quite often long times chatting and ...doing other stuff.........well now also cannot change because we have got addicted in fact if we cant get access to our mails and everything we get mad........isnt it ............well thanks for responding.........take care keep mylotting.......

well for me not but physical interaction yes. There is still something different when your interacting face to face then chatting or video even if the new holograms are accessible to all of us it will never be the same as being face to face

Oh Yes, I do feel same sometimes. I come back from office after being onlife for 8 hours and by the time I am ready after refresh, its again Laptop and I am online. Sometime I found that too much of time is being spent on computer/laptop but I do get in touch with my friends and family. yes because of internet I have not been out in the evening from long time. I wish one day internet is not working on my laptop so that I can make it to go out :)
